This wiki documents Civilizations 1.0.1. Numbers are bundled defaults; in-game menus and previews show your server’s current values.

Start with /civ inspect for land access, /civ info for civilization state, and /civ help for commands. Your server may use different prices, timings, or enforcement settings.
| Question or symptom | Explanation and next step |
|---|---|
/nether or /end is unknown or belongs to another plugin |
Confirm the new Civilizations JAR loaded. For command collisions, try /civilizations:nether or /civilizations:end and review server aliases. |
| Dimension travel says the world is unavailable | The configured world must exist, be loaded, and have the correct environment. Civilizations does not generate/load dimensions itself. |
| Dimension travel says the return route is unsafe | Make the configured Overworld spawn/coordinate destination safe and keep it inside the border. |
| I have expedition research but travel asks for an offering | Carry a genuine Nether Ember for /nether or End Sigil for /end in your inventory or offhand. One is consumed per successful trip, even within the same dimension or with a technology bypass. See ritual recipes. |
| Where are the Nether Ember and End Sigil recipes? | Open /civ items → Other Items and click the offering, or use the recipe book. /nether recipe and /end recipe are not supported in the latest build. |
| Random travel cannot find a location | The border may be tiny, mostly ocean/void, heavily claimed, or unsafe. Retry; the failed attempt did not use a cooldown. Operators should review the border and terrain. |
First join moved me but /wild is still available |
Intended: automatic first placement is free. The 12-hour timer begins only after a successful manual use. |
| Can I use portals instead of research? | Physical Nether/End portals and gateways are suppressed. Use the command route with the required expedition technology and ritual offering. |
| I found/bought an iron tool but cannot use it | Under strict enforcement, your civilization must unlock the matching technology. Owning an item is not an unlock. |
| Do I need Alchemy to drink water? | Plain water bottles are allowed without Alchemy. Other drinkable potions and water bottles with custom potion effects retain the Alchemy requirement. |
| Villagers will not trade | Villager and wandering-trader commerce is deliberately disabled. |
| I have materials but cannot found a civilization | Founding needs authenticated physical civic items, an eligible site, and clear membership/cooldown state. Use /civ items, not an anvil rename. |
| I have materials but cannot claim/research/complete an order | These actions spend the shared stockpile. Deposit the correct family/tier, check Knowledge/prerequisites/capacity, and use an authorized role. |
| I cannot claim diagonally or unclaim a bridge chunk | Normal territory must stay cardinally connected to its capital. |
| I am leader but cannot build in a citizen's home | A private plot is controlled by its owner/trust, not automatically by the government role. |
| A hopper/piston/fluid cannot cross my property line | Indirect interactions respect access-controller boundaries; adjacent plots can have different controllers. |
| My stockpile item says 64 but I deposited more | Inventory counts are capped for display. Hover to read the exact balance. |
| Can I withdraw/decompress stockpile balances? | No player stockpile withdrawal exists. Refine physical items before depositing; deposits are permanent. |
| Work orders are not using the items in my hand | Ready orders consume shared stockpile balances and must be completed by a leader/advisor. |
| Research did not instantly unlock at the displayed time | Completion is checked periodically, every 30 seconds by default, and requires healthy storage. |
| My private plot became civic land | Possible causes include verified unpaid tax, surrender, or departure/removal. War does not transfer ownership. Inspect /civ taxes and ask an administrator to check the audit history. |
| Why did 30 offerings fail? | At favor level 1, the roll is 1–30 and your correct stack must strictly exceed it. Guaranteed amounts are 31 at level 1, 26 at level 2, and 21 at level 3. Each success raises favor with that god by one level, up to 3. See religion. |
| Why does Demeter reject wheat? | Her default offering is now bread. Read the current offering in /religion before sacrificing. |
| Our leader stopped playing. Can someone take over? | After seven full days offline, an advisor can use /civ claimleadership; a citizen can do so only if no advisors exist, including offline advisors. Reconnecting resets the wait, and campaign locks block changes. The former leader keeps their property as a citizen. |
- A command says I lack permission. Check the role in Commands. A server permission node does not automatically make you a leader or advisor. Ask staff about server-specific permission restrictions.
- A confirmation expired or was refused. Run the command again and read the new preview. The plugin rechecks ownership, role, resources, and current state when you confirm.
-
Only nearby players can hear me. Use
/chat globalfor global chat./chat localreaches the same world within 100 blocks by default;/chat civselects civilization chat. -
I need another tutorial book. Clear an inventory slot and use
/civ tutorial. A successful delivery starts a 24-hour cooldown, including the first welcome book. - The server says territory is warming up. Wait for storage readiness and tell an administrator if it persists. Mutations are blocked while territory data is unavailable.
- Why is my house not safe during a war? Active campaign permissions allow eligible enemies to break and loot private plots. Ownership remains yours, but destruction and stolen items are not automatically restored.
Tell your civilization’s leadership about invitations, plot permissions, resource priorities, and research choices. Ask server staff about permission denials, missing worlds, unresolved payments, or storage errors. Include the exact command and message, what you expected, and what happened. Report suspected payment problems before repeatedly retrying a transfer.
For a plugin bug report, include the plugin/server/Java versions, reproduction steps, active integrations, and a sanitized log excerpt if staff can supply it. Keep passwords and private player data out of public reports.
