Work orders and Knowledge

Supply the civilization’s orders to earn the Knowledge needed for research.

This wiki documents Civilizations 1.0.1. Numbers are bundled defaults; in-game menus and previews show your server’s current values.

/civ workorders displays one persistent civilization-wide order in each category: Basic, Industrial, and Strategic. Everyone can inspect what is needed. A leader/advisor clicks a ready order to spend its exact civic stockpile amount and earn Knowledge for the civilization.

Simply carrying matching items is not enough: deposit them first. The menu compares the order with current shared balances. Completing an order consumes resources; supplying an order and funding research may compete for the same materials.

Each category has a 24-hour cooldown after completion by default. Orders and cooldowns persist; reopening a menu or restarting does not reroll them. Template selection uses configured weights and technology requirements.

Category Possible default requests Knowledge
Basic 32 Heavy Cobblestone; 24 Bound Timber; 12 Forged Components; 12 Research Folios; or 8 Arcane Matrices 2
Industrial 5 Reinforced Masonry; 4 Engineered Timber; 4 Tempered Mechanisms; 4 Bound Archives; 64 Heavy Cobblestone; or 48 Bound Timber 3
Strategic 1 Monumental Masonry; 1 Great Beams; 1 Imperial Mechanisms; 1 Grand Codex; or 4 Resonant Matrices 4
Strategic, Sovereign Matrix template 1 Sovereign Matrix 5

Industrial Tempered Mechanisms require Ironworking; Industrial Bound Archives require Scholarship. Strategic Imperial Mechanisms require Engineering, Grand Codex requires Scholarship, and Sovereign Matrix requires Nether Expedition. See workorders.yml for exact templates and weights.

Complete an order together

  1. Open /civ workorders (or /civ orders) and choose one of the displayed categories to supply.
  2. Read the exact item and tier. The table above lists possible requests; an individual order uses its selected request, not every alternative.
  3. Craft or refine the needed items, then deposit them with /civ deposit hand or /civ deposit all.
  4. A leader or advisor opens the menu and clicks the ready order. Completion spends its resources and adds the displayed Knowledge to the civilization.
  5. Use the Knowledge for research. That project needs its own civic materials in addition to the items already consumed by the order.

For example, a Basic order requesting 32 Heavy Cobblestone consumes those 32 Tier 1 items and awards 2 Knowledge. Crafting that supply from scratch takes 288 cobblestone. Higher tiers are separate balances: four Reinforced Masonry do not directly count as 32 Heavy Cobblestone in the stockpile.
