Offer ordinary items to six Greek gods for temporary blessings and build personal favor with each one.
This wiki documents Civilizations 1.0.1. Numbers are bundled defaults; in-game menus and previews show your server’s current values.
A sacrifice uses the entire held stack. Guaranteed acceptance requires 31 correct items at favor level 1, 26 at level 2, or 21 at level 3. Rejection consumes the offering, starts the cooldown, and calls down lightning.
Religion is available through /religion, independent of civilization leadership. Choose a god in the menu or run /religion <god>, then hold your intended offering and use /sacrifice [god]. Giving the god key directly avoids relying on your current menu selection.
| God / key | Required ordinary item | Default blessing |
|---|---|---|
Zeus (zeus) |
Gold ingot | Speed I + Jump Boost II |
Poseidon (poseidon) |
Cod | Water Breathing I + Dolphin's Grace I |
Demeter (demeter) |
Bread | Regeneration I + Health Boost I |
Ares (ares) |
Iron ingot | Strength I + Resistance I |
Athena (athena) |
Book | Haste I + Luck I |
Artemis (artemis) |
Feather | Speed I + Night Vision I |
Blessings last 30 minutes by default. The sacrifice cooldown is 4 hours per player, per god, and persists in MySQL. Choosing a god for /sacrifice is a menu/command selection, not a permanent faction conversion.
Every player starts at favor level 1 with each god. Each successful sacrifice raises favor with that god by one level, up to level 3. Favor is personal and independent for each deity, persists across reconnects and server restarts, and does not decay or drop on rejection. The reduced roll range applies to the next sacrifice.
| Favor level | Random roll (inclusive) | Successes needed from level 1 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1–30 | 0 |
| 2 | 1–25 | 1 |
| 3 | 1–20 | 2 |
A recorded sacrifice consumes the entire held stack, succeeds only if it is the correct item and its size exceeds the random roll for your current favor level, and starts that god's cooldown whether accepted or rejected. Rejection grants no blessing or favor and calls down lightning. Sacrifices require Survival or Adventure mode.
For the correct item, acceptance chance is min(stack size − 1, maximum roll) / maximum roll. At level 1, a stack of 16 has a 15/30 (50%) chance and a stack of 30 has a 29/30 (about 96.67%) chance: matching the roll is still a rejection. Guaranteed acceptance requires 31 correct items at level 1, 26 at level 2, or 21 at level 3. A single item never succeeds.
The pantheon GUI shows each god's favor level, current roll range, next-success upgrade (or maximum favor), offering, blessing, and cooldown. Successful sacrifices also report your updated level and future roll range in chat. Choosing another god does not reset your existing relationships.
Migration V7 automatically creates persistent deity favor storage. Existing players start at level 1 with every god; previous sacrifices are not credited retroactively, and existing cooldowns remain in effect. Migration V8 caps any previously earned level 4 or 5 favor at level 3, preserving levels 1–3 and all cooldowns.
The wrong material is rejected regardless of amount. A cooldown or storage denial is not an accepted sacrifice; the command restores items when the result proves restoration is safe. Read the offering in the menu before using the command, since offering the wrong held stack is still a real trial.
