What Is the Fey Wanderer?

The Fey Wanderer is a Ranger subclass that channels Feywild magic into weapon strikes and charm resistance. Dreadful Strikes at Level 3 adds bonus Psychic damage to every weapon hit — once per turn per target. Otherworldly Glamour adds your Wisdom modifier to all Charisma-based skill checks. Beguiling Twist at Level 7 grants immunity to both Charmed and Frightened conditions. Misty Wanderer at Level 11 provides free Misty Step casts equal to your Wisdom modifier per Long Rest.

Level 3

Dreadful Strikes You can augment your weapon strikes with mind-scarring magic drawn from the murky hollows of the Feywild. When you hit a creature with a weapon, you can deal an extra 1d4 Psychic damage to the target, which can take this extra damage only once per turn. The extra damage increases to 1d6 when you reach Ranger Level 11.

Otherworldly Glamour Whenever you make a Charisma check, you gain a bonus to the check equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Level 7

Beguiling Twist The magic of the Feywild guards your mind. You are immune to the Charmed and Frightened conditions.

Level 11

Misty Wanderer You can cast Misty Step without expending a spell slot. You can do so a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Playstyle Notes

The Fey Wanderer is the Psychic damage + social + mobility Ranger subclass. Dreadful Strikes adds 1d4 Psychic damage to each weapon hit (increasing to 1d6 at Level 11) — this doesn't require any action, just a hit. With Extra Attack at Level 5 and Hunter's Mark, every attack roll that connects adds 1d6 Hunter's Mark + 1d4 (→1d6) Dreadful Strikes + the base weapon die.

Otherworldly Glamour turns Wisdom into a double-duty stat: it's already your spellcasting ability for Ranger spells and the modifier for Tireless TempHP, and now it adds directly to all four Charisma skill checks. A Ranger with 20 Wisdom adds +5 to Deception, Intimidation, Performance, and Persuasion.

Beguiling Twist at Level 7 provides blanket Charmed and Frightened immunity — both conditions are debilitating in high-level encounters. This pairs well with running inside enemy melee range to maintain Hunter's Mark targets without being shut down by mind-affecting effects.

Misty Wanderer at Level 11 gives free teleportation equal to Wisdom modifier — at 20 Wisdom, that's 5 free Misty Steps per Long Rest. Combined with Roving (+15 ft Speed) and the Ranger's medium-armor mobility, the Fey Wanderer is one of the most mobile subclasses at high levels.
