Subclass Sorcerer Storm Sorcery
The Storm Sorcery is a Lightning/Thunder Sorcerer subclass. Tempestuous Magic at Level 3 lets you fly 10 feet as a free Bonus Action movement after casting a spell, triggering without provoking Opportunity Attacks. Heart of the Storm at Level 6 grants Resistance to Lightning and Thunder damage and deals automatic Lightning or Thunder damage to nearby creatures when you cast a spell of Level 1 or higher that deals that damage type. Storm's Fury at Level 11 retaliates against melee attackers with Lightning damage and a forced push.
| LEVEL | FEATURE |
|---|---|
| 3 | Tempestuous Magic |
| 6 | Heart of the Storm |
| 11 | Storm's Fury |
Tempestuous Magic As a Bonus Action immediately before or after you cast a spell of Level 1 or higher, you can fly up to 10 feet without provoking Opportunity Attacks.
Heart of the Storm You have Resistance to Lightning and Thunder damage. In addition, whenever you cast a spell of Level 1 or higher that deals Lightning or Thunder damage, each creature of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of you takes Lightning or Thunder damage (your choice) equal to half your Sorcerer level.
Storm's Fury When you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your Reaction to deal Lightning damage to the attacker equal to your Sorcerer level. The attacker must also make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the attacker is pushed in a straight line up to 20 feet away from you.
The Storm Sorcery is the mobility + reactive damage Sorcerer subclass. Tempestuous Magic at Level 3 converts every spell cast into a reposition: fly 10 feet without Opportunity Attacks immediately before or after the spell. For a fragile d6 caster, this provides meaningful survival at Level 3 — cast at close range and immediately float 10 feet back into safety.
Heart of the Storm at Level 6 deals half your Sorcerer level in Lightning or Thunder damage to all nearby enemies when you cast any Lightning/Thunder spell. At Level 9, that's 4 free damage (half of 9) to every creature within 10 feet. Combined with Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning, this creates free area damage on top of the spell's primary effect.
Resistance to both Lightning and Thunder from Heart of the Storm covers the two most common storm-environment damage types and many enemy spell types.
Storm's Fury at Level 11 turns every incoming melee attack into a potential Strength save or 20-foot push. Against melee-focused enemies, this creates a feedback loop: they approach to attack, get dealt Sorcerer-level Lightning damage and pushed back 20 feet. Combined with Tempestuous Magic (reposition after cast), the Storm Sorcerer maintains extreme positional control.
