Check for updates

Under "Check for updates" in "Manage → Settings". It is on by default and checks when you open the program (sign in, refresh, switch account), going online only when 24 hours have passed since the last check, and sending only the current version number (having no network also counts as having checked; a program left open does not check on a timer by itself); you can turn it off if you do not want it (only the owner can change this).

• When a new version is out, a notice appears at the top of the main screen.
• Installed with the installer: click "Download and install". STOCKings first verifies the signature of the version information and the installer's hash, and runs it only if both are right; the program closes by itself and reopens after the install, with your data unaffected.
• Installed with the Linux installer (.deb): download the new .deb from the releases page and double-click it or run sudo apt install ./filename.deb; your data is unaffected. The .deb supports Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13 or newer; the portable edition needs gir1.2-webkit2-4.1 libgirepository-2.0-0 fonts-noto-cjk installed first.
• Portable edition: download the new zip, unzip it and move the data folder from the old folder next to the new one.
• Launcher edition: git pull and restart, or download the new zip.
