What this is

A ledger that runs only on your own computer. You enter each trade by hand, and it works out:

  • Cost, profit and return for each stock
  • Brokerage fees and securities transaction tax (following the actual Taiwan rules, including odd lots)
  • Sales are matched first in, first out to give the true realized profit
  • Dividends, stock dividends and a dividend calendar
  • Two-way lending: lend out for a fee, and short sell borrowed shares
  • Exchange-rate conversion for US stocks
  • Statistics by year and annualized return
  • Your data can be exported to CSV and imported back

Your data is kept in one file on your computer and is never uploaded anywhere. It only goes online to look up stock prices.

"About and licences" on the Settings page explains where those files are; the open-source components used and their licences are listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt. STOCKings is proprietary software (all rights reserved). The terms are in the bundled LICENSE (LICENSE.txt in the installer and portable editions), and the installer asks you to agree before installing. In short: you can use it free on your own computer; without written permission you may not pass it on, modify it, resell it or use it to offer a service.
