Bootstrapper Styles

The bootstrapper is the window GokuTrap shows while it installs, configures and starts Roblox. Its appearance is entirely cosmetic — no style changes what actually happens.

Available styles

Style Description
GokuTrap The signature modern Fluent design. This is the default
FluentAeroDialog Fluent with an acrylic/aero backdrop
ClassicFluentDialog The classic Fluent dialog look
TwentyFiveDialog A Windows-25-flavoured design
TerminalDialog A command-line/terminal aesthetic
ByfronDialog A design modelled on Roblox's Byfron-era dialogs
ProgressDialog A simple progress-bar dialog
LegacyDialog2011 The 2011-era Roblox bootstrapper look
LegacyDialog2008 The 2008-era Roblox bootstrapper look
VistaDialog A Windows Vista-era dialog
CustomDialog Your own XML-authored design — see below

Note The dark theme does not apply to the Legacy (2008/2011) or Vista styles. They deliberately reproduce historical dialogs, including their original colour scheme.

Changing style

Set it in Appearance#Bootstrapper appearance, then press Preview to see it without launching. Style changes take effect on the next launch.

Custom styles

CustomDialog renders an XML template that you supply. Two templates ship as starting points:

  • CustomBootstrapperTemplate_Blank.xml — a skeleton
  • CustomBootstrapperTemplate_Simple.xml — a working minimal example

What a template controls

Templates describe the bootstrapper window: its layout, the text shown during each status, and simple styling. The status strings you can customise include the download status line, where {0} is the package name, {1} the downloaded package size and {2} the total package size.

Rules

  • Templates are presentation only. They cannot change what GokuTrap installs, how it configures Roblox, or any safety behaviour.
  • Status text from a template is rendered as plain text. No scripts or markup in release notes, template text or remote data are ever executed.
  • Test a template before relying on it — a malformed template can leave the window unreadable. You can always switch back to the GokuTrap style.

Statuses shown during a launch

Regardless of style, the bootstrapper reports the same sequence:

Status Meaning
Connecting Resolving the deployment channel and client version
Installing Downloading and writing the version package
Applying modifications Applying your Mods and Sound-Packs
Configuring Writing FastFlags and Global-Basic-Settings
Starting Handing off to the Roblox client
Upgrading GokuTrap is replacing itself — see Application-Updates
Installing WebView2 Roblox Studio needs the WebView2 runtime
Waiting for other instances Another GokuTrap instance holds the update lock
Not enough space Insufficient disk space for the operation
WMF not found A legacy style needs Windows Media Foundation components

Errors that stop the launch — Roblox being down, a bad connection, matchmaking failure — raise a dialog rather than a status line.
