Adding custom mods

GokuTrap can apply file changes to the Roblox client. Most people should use the built-in presets on the Mods page — this page is for when you want to supply your own files.

Where mod files live

Press Open Mods Folder on the Mods page. That opens Modifications inside your GokuTrap installation folder. See File-Locations.

Anything you place there is applied at launch alongside the built-in presets.

The Modifications folder structure

GokuTrap mirrors Roblox's own client layout, so a mod file goes to the same relative path it occupies in the game:

Modifications/
└── content/
    ├── fonts/
    │ └── CustomFont.ttf
    └── sounds/
        └── action_jump.mp3

A file placed at content/sounds/action_jump.mp3 replaces the character jump sound.

Using the built-in presets first

Before hand-placing files, check the Mods page. It already offers:

Preset What it does
Mouse cursor 2006 or 2013 style cursor
Preferred emoji type Catmoji, Windows 8/10/11
Old avatar editor background Pre-2020 avatar editor
Old character sounds Pre-2014 character audio
Custom font Your own .ttf

Using these means GokuTrap tracks ownership and can restore the original. Hand-placed files are your responsibility to remove. See Mods.

Rules and behaviour

Aspect Behaviour
Applied At launch, into the version package folder
Reversed By deleting your file, or by restoring the package
Conflicts GokuTrap's own presets take precedence, and the conflict is reported rather than silently overwritten
Formats Match the original file's format. Do not rename a .wav to .mp3 — see Sound-Packs
Experience overrides An experience can ship its own copy of a file, so your mod may have no effect there

Using your own font

  1. Mods → Choose font…
  2. Select a valid .ttf.

An unrecognised file is rejected with "The file you have chosen does not appear to be a valid font file." Font size is set separately in Global-Basic-Settings.

Remove applied font restores the default.

Rules of thumb

  • Back up the originals before you start, or rely on Force Roblox reinstallation in Bootstrapper-Behaviour.
  • Match the format exactly. Renaming does not convert.
  • Keep file sizes sane. Very large assets slow every launch.
  • Test incrementally — one file at a time, so you know which change did what.

Legal

Only use files you have the right to use. GokuTrap ships no copyrighted Roblox assets and no copyrighted audio.
