Mods

The Mods page applies changes to the Roblox game client files. Modifications are applied to the version folder at launch and are not destructive to your GokuTrap configuration.

Open Mods Folder

Opens the Modifications folder in your installation directory, where you can manage custom Roblox mods by hand. See File-Locations.

Anything you place there is applied alongside the presets below. If your file conflicts with a preset, the preset wins and GokuTrap reports the conflict rather than silently overwriting.

Built-in presets

Mouse cursor

Option Notes
Default No cursor change
From 2006 The classic 2006-style cursor
From 2013 The classic 2013-style cursor

Preferred emoji type

Which emoji set Roblox uses: Default, Catmoji, Windows 11, Windows 10 or Windows 8.

If the emoji mod cannot be applied, GokuTrap shows "The emoji mod can not be applied at this time" rather than failing the launch.

Use old avatar editor background

Restores the avatar editor background used in the Roblox app before 2020.

Emulate old character sounds

An attempt to roughly restore the character sounds used before 2014 — classic jump, footsteps and get-up.

This preset uses the bundled classic sounds that ship with GokuTrap. If you want your own audio in those slots, use Sound-Packs instead, which gives you explicit control and ownership tracking.

Custom font

Applies your own font to the Roblox client.

  • Choose font… — selects a .ttf file. An unrecognised file is rejected with "The file you have chosen does not appear to be a valid font file."
  • Font size is adjusted separately in the engine settings — see Global-Basic-Settings.
  • Remove applied font restores the default.

Compatibility settings

Opens the Windows application-compatibility properties for GokuTrap itself — DPI scaling behaviour and fullscreen optimizations.

These affect GokuTrap's window, not Roblox's. Roblox-side rendering options live in FastFlags.

How mods are applied and reversed

Aspect Behaviour
Applied During launch, by Bootstrapper.ApplyModifications, into the version folder
Reversed By removing GokuTrap's owned files or restoring the original package on the next launch
Conflicting user mods Preserved. GokuTrap reports how many slots it could not apply or restore (missing asset, permission, or a conflicting mod you own) and continues
Failure mode A mod failure never prevents Roblox from launching

Experiences can override these assets. A Roblox experience may ship its own version of a file you modified. In that case your mod has no effect in that experience. This is expected and not a bug.

Sound packs

Sound packs live in the Saiyan & feature tools page and are also linked from the Mods page. See Sound-Packs.

Legal note

GokuTrap ships no copyrighted audio and no copyrighted Roblox assets. The bundled classic character sounds are approximations produced for this project. If you import your own files, you are responsible for holding the rights to them. See Sound-Packs.
