Launch modes

The mode GokuTrap uses for a launch is determined from the VersionFlag passed by whatever started it:

Mode Meaning
Unknown Let the bootstrapper decide. Only meaningful when a version flag is set
Player Launch Roblox Player
Studio Launch Roblox Studio
StudioAuth Launch Roblox Studio for an authenticated session

Normal double-clicking the shortcut or executable launches Player. Roblox Studio access is what StudioAuth exists for — it is used by the Studio file association, which registers -ide "%1" so that opening a place file hands off to Studio.

Launching more than one instance

Roblox supports multiple Player processes. GokuTrap handles this in two different ways depending on what you asked for:

  • Scheduling — Saiyan-Mode applies its process policy to every verified running Player instance, not just the first.
  • Activity context — features that depend on "which game am I in" (server location, Region-Radar, Discord activity) use a single watched instance, because activity tracking is a singleton observer. With several Roblox windows open, the reported place is the one GokuTrap is watching.

Prompt to confirm when launching another Roblox instance (in Bootstrapper-Behaviour) exists to stop you accidentally closing a running game by launching again.

What happens during a launch

  1. Connectivity and channel check — GokuTrap resolves the deployment channel and the client version. See Deployment-and-Channel.
  2. Install or update — the version package is downloaded if needed. If background updates are enabled this can happen ahead of time.
  3. Apply modifications — your Mods and Sound-Packs are applied to the version folder.
  4. Configure — FastFlags and Global-Basic-Settings are written into Roblox's client settings.
  5. Start — the client process launches and the bootstrapper window reports success.

Each stage has its own status message, and the bootstrapper window closes automatically once the client is running. If any stage fails, GokuTrap keeps the existing installation intact rather than leaving a half-configured client.
