23 MCP and SubAgent

User configures MCP servers (stdio / streamable HTTP) in settings. Tools exposed by app-enable ∩ Bot-check. Risk tiers from annotations + name heuristics: read / write / destructive. Approvals: per-tool policies > server autoApprove (default off) > tier defaults. Read+auto tools may enter the turn tool surface (capped). Secrets field-encrypted.
Connected-app OAuth path: 29-Connected-Apps. Capability mounting changes how many MCP tools are inlined: 40-Capability-Mounting.
delegate_task is a nested subagent inside a task (not a group member). Modes: foreground sync, parallel fan-out (hard cap), collect results. No subagent-to-subagent; no fork/hot-swap/task-tree panel. Background “fire-and-forget then follow-up” became in-parent parallel branches.
