In short: switch the battery ON, plug in a USB-C charger, and leave it until the battery icon shows full. With the battery switch off, USB only powers TACT: the battery doesn't charge.
- Switch the battery ON. The switch connects the battery to the charger, so it must be on to charge. TACT starts up when you switch it on.
- Plug in a USB-C cable to TACT's USB port, and the other end into a USB charger, a power bank or a computer.
- Leave it to charge. You can keep using TACT while it charges, but it charges faster when it's left on the main menu rather than running a game.
- Unplug when it's full, then switch the battery off if you're putting TACT away.
While it's plugged in to a computer, the status bar shows a charging icon. On a wall charger or power bank the battery level reads full as soon as it's plugged in, so for a true reading, unplug it and look again after a minute.
| Charge from | Works? |
|---|---|
| USB phone charger (wall plug) | Yes, the usual way |
| Power bank | Yes, handy at the field between games |
| Computer or laptop USB port | Yes, a little slower |
| Car USB socket | Yes |
- Any standard USB charger works. TACT takes what it needs, so a big fast charger is fine too.
- Use a good-quality USB-C cable. If TACT doesn't seem to charge, try another cable first: some cheap cables are damaged or only half-wired.
- The same USB port is used for Updating by USB.
A full charge lasts around 9 hours of play with multiplayer and Wi-Fi in use, and longer when TACT is used on its own. Charge every unit the night before a game day.
- At 10% and again at 5%, TACT beeps and shows Battery low. Charge it soon.
- When the battery is empty, TACT shows BATTERY EMPTY and turns itself off to protect the battery. Switch the battery off, then charge it (battery switch on) as soon as you can.
- Don't leave a flat battery uncharged for long: an empty battery left for weeks can be damaged for good.
- Switch the battery off whenever TACT is put away. With the switch off, nothing drains the battery.
- For storage longer than a month, charge it to about half first, and top it up every few months.
- Keep it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sun (not in a hot car).
TACT has a rechargeable lithium battery.
- Charge it at room temperature, on a hard surface, away from anything that burns easily.
- Don't charge it if the case is cracked, the battery looks swollen, or it gets hot or smells. Stop using it and contact us.
- Keep it dry. If it gets wet, switch the battery off and let it dry fully before charging.
- Don't leave it charging unattended for long periods.
