Respawn Waves

luminko edited this page Oct 9, 2026 · 2 revisions

In short: The device holds a spawn point and sends the waiting players back in waves, on a fixed timer. Made for zombie and attack-and-defend games.

The device sits at a spawn point and releases the players waiting there in waves. Players who are hit go back to the spawn and wait for the next respawn before going out again.

A good fit for a zombie infection game: infected players return to the zombie spawn and come back out together, every few minutes.

Setup

Number of respawns Ready

  1. GAME DURATION
  2. PLAYERS (when hosting with devices joined)
  3. NUMBER OF RESPAWNS: 1–30. The screen shows how often a respawn comes as you change it.
  4. READY: duration, respawns and the time between them

The time between respawns is the game time divided by the number of respawns. The game start counts as the first: 30 minutes with 5 respawns means everyone goes out at the start, then respawns at 6, 12, 18 and 24 minutes, and the game ends at 30.

Playing

Next respawn countdown Respawn

The screen shows the game clock, a large NEXT RESPAWN IN countdown (amber, then red, as it gets close), which wave it is (WAVE 2 OF 5) and a progress bar.

  • At each respawn the screen flashes green with RESPAWN and a respawn sound plays (Game sound effects). Everyone waiting at the spawn goes back in.
  • After the last respawn it counts down to the end of the game instead: LAST WAVE: GAME ENDS IN.

Multiplayer

Every linked device is a spawn point, and all of them run the same waves from the shared start time. They don't need to talk to each other during the game, so spawn points can be far apart (for example a human spawn and a zombie spawn at opposite ends of the field). The host's result shows the wave each spawn point reached.
