History

Not to be confused with nearby Aptos Vineyard, Aptos Creek produces around 150 cases of single vineyard Pinot Noir each year.

The vineyard is at an elevation of 200 feet which places it just outside the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA (the AVA ends at 400 feet on the west side), so the wines are labelled with the Santa Cruz County appellation. It covers 2 South-East facing acres located at the base of Nisene Marks state park. The vines were planted in 1990 in a European style, with close spacing and a single right cordon, and are dry farmed, leading to concentrated flavors and color, but a fairly low yield of around 2-4 tons.

The winery is too small to have a tasting room, but often participates in the SCMWA Passport program, pouring at Michaels on Mainin nearby Soquel.

The wines are sold only within a 50 mile radius of the vineyard at wine shops such as Vino Cruz, Cava, Summit Store, Vino Locale, Mountain Terrace and Theos Restaurant.
