JOHN GEMELLO
John Gemello was an Italian immigrant vintner who worked for Paul Masson before co-founding Gemello Winery in Mountain View in 1933. He represents the Italian-American winemaking generation that bridged from the pioneer era to post-Prohibition continuity.
John Gemello immigrated to California and became part of the Italian-American viticultural network in Santa Clara Valley. He worked for Paul Masson, learning winemaking at one of the region's most prestigious operations during the pre-Prohibition era.
