Aquaculture

Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge: this page documents that build and its measurements. For the separate 205-control Minecraft 1.21.1 port, see Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge.

One control for Aquaculture 2.5.5 (mod id aquaculture), client-side: its block items with a 3D model reuse one item renderer each instead of building a new one, with seven dummy block entities, on every draw. The switch checks the code it would change against the tested build; another build is left untouched with one WARN line (see How the patches are applied).

aquaculture_item_renderer_reuse

Since: 1.0.36 · Target: Aquaculture 2.5.5 · Side: CLIENT · Kind: opt

Mixin: AquacultureRendererMixin

Aquaculture item renderer reuse. Each time an Aquaculture block item with a 3D model is drawn (hand, hotbar, inventory, JEI, item frames, dropped items), Aquaculture builds a new item renderer, and every new item renderer builds seven dummy block entities (chest, banner, bed, ...) that Forge announces to every capability listener. The renderer keeps nothing from one draw to the next, so one renderer per item is now kept and reused on the render thread; it is dropped at every resource reload. Same draw calls and pixels; the dummy block entities are simply not rebuilt every frame.

Idea: Collections Of Optimizations (cataclysm.shareItemRenderer), idea text only, widened to other mods

Measured: per draw 320 ns and 1,400 B -> 59 ns and 16 B before Forge's capability listeners (about 20 per dummy in this pack, on top); reused renderer state equal to a new one's after every draw, 0 differences (Core Ultra 9 285K).
