Features

This page summarizes functionality available in GameAtlas 2.4. Feature availability depends on the operating system, launcher, installation layout, game engine, and optional tools installed on the system.

Library and game information

  • Unified discovery across supported Windows and Linux launchers.
  • Manual game entries for unsupported or unusual installations.
  • Multiple library and secondary-drive support.
  • Installation path, executable, version, architecture, engine, graphics API, launcher, DRM, and anti-cheat context where detectable.
  • PCGamingWiki metadata, known issues, configuration paths, save paths, and compatibility resources.
  • Cover artwork, storage inspection, screenshots, personal ratings, notes, tags, favorites, and play status.
  • RenoDX, Luma, ReShade, Fluffy Mod Manager, and Vortex support discovery.

See Game Detection, Game Information, PCGamingWiki, and RenoDX.

Saves and configuration

  • Save and configuration discovery.
  • Local backups, restore points, and snapshots.
  • Proton/Wine path resolution where available.
  • Configuration validation, preview, and recovery safeguards.

See Save Management.

Diagnostics Center

GameAtlas groups read-only analysis and carefully scoped maintenance workflows for:

  • Display and refresh-rate validation.
  • Crash evidence and launch-failure analysis.
  • Runtime dependency checks.
  • Configuration validation.
  • Mod conflicts and DLL inspection.
  • Background application and overlay conflicts.
  • Graphics drivers and shader caches.
  • CPU, GPU, VRAM, memory, storage, and wrong-GPU conditions.
  • Controller conflicts.
  • Proton runtimes, prefixes, and compatibility context.

See Diagnostics Center, Clean Launch, Shader Cache Management, and Performance Diagnostics.

Performance capture

GameAtlas captures presented-frame data for repeatable comparisons:

  • PresentMon on Windows.
  • MangoHud on Linux.
  • Average FPS, 1% lows, frame-time percentiles, and large-spike analysis.
  • Local raw capture retention.

See Performance Capture.

Linux performance and runtime tools

Linux functionality includes:

  • Steam launch-option management.
  • MangoHud setup and verification.
  • FPS limiting and related performance controls.
  • Proton runtime and prefix inspection.
  • Runtime dependency diagnosis.
  • Clean-launch and background-conflict workflows.
  • Shader-cache management.

See Linux.

Linux mod manager

The Linux-only managed mod library supports:

  • Per-game staging under ~/Games/VortexMods/<Game Name>/.
  • Folder, ZIP, RAR, and 7z sources.
  • Safe extraction and deployment previews.
  • Unreal Engine .pak routing.
  • Multiple managed mods with enable/disable state.
  • Priority ordering and managed conflict resolution.
  • Profiles.
  • Purge, redeploy, verify, and repair.
  • Metadata, source tracking, and transactional upgrades.

FOMOD installers and Nexus Collections are not currently supported.

See Linux Mod Manager.

Nexus Mods testing integration

Current testing capabilities include:

  • Session-only personal API-key connection.
  • Mod metadata and file-catalog lookup.
  • nxm:// Mod Manager Download handling.
  • Eligible archive downloads to the selected staging folder.
  • Nexus provenance stored with managed mods.
  • Update detection and guided upgrades.
  • Quota display and rate-limit safeguards.

See Nexus Mods Integration and Privacy and Security.

Platform distinctions

Windows users should use the official Vortex application for full mod management. GameAtlas provides Vortex support discovery and Windows-focused tools such as PresentMon and native system diagnostics.

Linux users receive equivalent diagnostics where practical plus Proton-aware tools, MangoHud capture, and GameAtlas's Linux-only managed mod library.

See Windows and Linux.

Limitations

GameAtlas cannot guarantee that a mod is compatible, that externally sourced instructions are correct, or that every game exposes enough metadata for every feature. Review previews and warnings, keep backups, and close games before changing files they may be using.

For planned work, see Roadmap.
