Save Management

GameAtlas includes save-management tools designed to make it easier to find, back up, restore, and manage game save data.

Save handling varies by game, launcher, operating system, and runtime, so GameAtlas uses the information available for each selected title rather than assuming every game stores saves in the same place.

What Save Management Can Do

Depending on the game and platform, GameAtlas can help with:

  • Detecting save locations
  • Opening save folders
  • Creating backups
  • Restoring backups
  • Managing save snapshots
  • Surfacing related configuration files
  • Resetting save or configuration data when supported

Not every game exposes every workflow.

Save Location Detection

GameAtlas attempts to determine where a game's save data is stored.

Possible sources include:

  • PCGamingWiki information
  • Launcher metadata
  • Local game files
  • Known platform conventions
  • Proton or Wine prefix information
  • Game-specific paths

When a reliable save location is found, GameAtlas can surface it directly from the selected game.

Windows Save Locations

Windows games commonly store save data in locations such as:

Documents
Saved Games
AppData\Roaming
AppData\Local
AppData\LocalLow
Steam userdata
Game installation folders
Launcher-specific directories
