Biome tints
Biome controls let you compare grass, leaves, water and other tinted blocks in the place you intend to build.
The green corner on a result's icon marks a texture the game tints. A tint can also depend on a block's state, such as redstone power, rather than its biome.
| Match control | What it uses |
|---|---|
| Here | Your position in the real world, including Minecraft's biome blending |
| Chosen | One biome selected from the world's registry |
| All | Your position for matching, plus each tinted result's range across biomes |
Chosen unlocks the biome picker. Search by biome id, such as minecraft:swamp. Modded biomes appear too. In Settings, these modes are named Where you stand, Chosen and All biomes.
All draws a strip beneath a tinted result's name. It shows how that block's tint varies between biomes. It doesn't choose the best biome for each result or score an average of every biome.
First match a flat colour. Then choose a tinted block as the target through the item slot, eyedropper or a command. Press Find biome. It lists the five biomes that bring that block face's average colour closest to the flat colour. Click a result to switch to Chosen with that biome selected.
An eyedropper target keeps the tint of the sampled block's position. The biome control changes the candidate blocks, so you can find something in a new biome that matches the old sample.
Palettes and Gradient use the biome selected in Settings. In All biomes they use where you stand. A palette stores blocks and states, not a fixed biome or sampled RGB colour.
