Installation

Download the latest build from the releases page. Release candidates are marked Pre-release. Each download includes everything Cuebot needs; you do not have to install .NET.

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Download Cuebot-win-x64.zip.
  2. Unzip it into a folder you will keep, for example C:\Cuebot or Documents\Cuebot. Do not run it from inside the zip.
  3. Run Cuebot.exe.

Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because Cuebot is new and not yet code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway.

To update, close Cuebot and unzip the new version over the old folder (or into a new folder). Your settings are not in that folder, so nothing is lost; see Backups and Your Data.

Linux

AppImage (x86-64)

chmod +x Cuebot-x86_64.AppImage
./Cuebot-x86_64.AppImage

Use a tool such as Gear Lever or AppImageLauncher if you want it in your application menu.

Tarball (x86-64 or ARM64)

tar -xzf Cuebot-<version>-linux-x64.tar.gz
./Cuebot-<version>-linux-x64/Cuebot

Arch Linux

The AUR packages cuebot (built from source) and cuebot-bin (the release build) will be published with the first stable release.

What Linux needs

  • A desktop with Wayland or X11. See Linux for compositor notes.
  • For sound: PipeWire (pw-play), PulseAudio (paplay) or ALSA (aplay).
  • For offline text-to-speech: espeak-ng.
  • For MIDI: ALSA (libasound), present on almost every desktop.
  • For the Stream Deck without Elgato's software: the udev rule 70-cuebot-streamdeck.rules (in the tarball's share folder, or in the repository); see Stream Apps and Devices.

Checking for updates

Settings > Support shows your version and can check GitHub for a newer release when Cuebot starts (at most once a day). Choose the Pre-release channel to be told about release candidates too; while Cuebot is in testing, every release is a pre-release.
