BitLy plugin

The BitLy plugin shortens supported AVideo URLs through the Bitly API. A shortened URL redirects through Bitly, so availability, analytics, limits and privacy also depend on that service.

Setup

1. Create a Bitly account and an access token in the current official Bitly dashboard.
2. Enable BitLy and enter the token in AccessToken.
3. Shorten a disposable public AVideo link and test the result while signed out.
4. Confirm private tokens, administrator URLs and password-reset links are never shortened.

The access token is a credential. Keep it server-side and rotate it if exposed.

Common questions

Why does the short link show a login/denial page? Bitly changes only the URL length; AVideo access rules still apply.

Can I delete or change a short link? That depends on the current Bitly account/plan and is not controlled by AVideo.

Does Bitly hide the destination permanently? No. Visitors and security tools can resolve the redirect.
