CRT Beam Simulator-Neo

CRT Beam Simulator-Neo is included with cHiDeScaler-Neo by default.
No separate download or manual file installation is required.

Open Neo's normal Add Filter screen and add CRT Beam Simulator-Neo to the filter chain like any other built-in filter.

What it does

CRT Beam Simulator-Neo is a temporal CRT-style filter designed to reproduce part of the scanning behavior of a CRT electron beam on a modern high-refresh-rate display.

It is different from CRT appearance shaders that mainly simulate scanlines, masks, curvature, bloom, or phosphor/color appearance. It is also different from frame interpolation such as RIFE: Beam does not generate intermediate motion frames.

How to use it

  1. Start cHiDeScaler-Neo.
  2. Open Add Filter.
  3. Select CRT Beam Simulator-Neo.
  4. Add it at the desired position in the filter chain.
  5. Adjust its parameters if necessary.
  6. Start processing and check the result on your display.

Filter order

Neo preserves the order selected by the user. It does not silently move CRT Beam Simulator-Neo to another position.

The ideal order depends on the effect you want.

High-refresh-rate display recommended

CRT Beam Simulator-Neo is primarily intended for high-refresh-rate displays.

For 60 fps content, 120 Hz is a practical starting point; 240 Hz provides more temporal resolution. Stable frame pacing is also important.

Smooth pacing : Recommended Off

Please disable Smooth pacing, as it may prevent the frame rate from exceeding 60 fps or cause unstable performance.
