Troubleshooting
Start with the exact message and the version beside Settings. The checks below do not require deleting your settings folder. If an action may have been sent, read save recovery before repeating it.
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| The demo library after authorising | Return to the same Tagcast window, leave the sign-in dialog open and follow If Tagcast still shows the demo. A success page grants access; loading your library happens afterwards. |
| Loading library… with a moving bar | A large first download or read-back may take time. The bar is not a percentage. Wait for completion or an error; an ordinary reload keeps current audio/queue running. |
| A sign-in/session error | Note the message. Tokens usually refresh in the background, but an expired/rejected connection can require reconnecting. Repeated approval is not a fix for a different library-loading error. |
| Changes made in another app are missing | Choose Reload library. Download everything again in the connected dialog bypasses the library cache. Reopen an affected album after the load. |
- A save is checking, failed or not confirmed: use the result table. Do not assume a network error means nothing changed.
- An album edit says Not sent · setting: turn off Combine Multi-Disc Album Sets in iBroadcast, reload, inspect the per-disc rules, then review only the remaining changes.
- An album appears twice, or discs appear together: Tagcast groups compatible discs using title, album artists, album year, upload-date sets and distinct disc numbers. Different editions/dates or duplicate disc numbers can keep cards separate. This display does not split or combine your local files.
- Overview totals differ from sidebar album counts: Overview uses iBroadcast's totals; browsing counts Tagcast's grouped displayed albums. See multi-disc counts.
- Tracks moved to trash are missing: restore them in iBroadcast's trash, then reload Tagcast. Tagcast cannot restore them. Trash and duplicate-copy reports are separate from a general Undo.
- Deleting a tag or playlist: Tagcast has no Undo for that deletion. A deleted playlist does not delete its music. This guide does not promise that iBroadcast can recover a deleted label or playlist definition.
- No sound or the wrong speaker: check Sound → Player volume / Mute, then the selected output and your system/speaker volume. In the macOS desktop app, use System default and select AirPlay in macOS Sound controls. Output availability depends on the browser and operating system.
- Original will not play: codec support varies. Tagcast tries MP3 128 kbps once if Original is unsupported and labels the fallback. It does not prove a file's quality. See streaming quality.
- Higher streaming choices or lyrics-save controls are missing: known free accounts use MP3 128 kbps and cannot save lyrics. Reading native/LRCLIB lyrics is still available. See Premium boundaries.
- LRCLIB returned HTTP 503: the service is temporarily unavailable or declined that request; the status alone does not establish a personal block. Wait and try the explicit lookup later, or import your own LRC/TXT text. Do not repeatedly run album-wide provider searches; Check album lyrics reads iBroadcast, not LRCLIB.
- No Lyrics label beside a track: it may not have been checked yet. Use ⋯ → Check album lyrics for the open album, or check one track again after changes elsewhere. Opening an album restores known local text; it does not scan every track.
- A playlist import has unresolved rows: full title/version, performer and every mapped optional field must qualify for automatic matching. Use match explanations and manual choice; omit optional album/year columns only if you do not want those constraints.
- Album/artist hearts are absent on another computer: these hearts are saved in Tagcast's account-specific settings files. Track hearts are iBroadcast ratings. See what is saved where.
- The queue disappeared after reload or restart: the ordinary queue is temporary. Save its track list as a playlist before closing if you want to keep it. Optional queue synchronisation is separate.
- Change history is empty or different: check the browser/desktop profile and local port. Site-data clearing and the 300-entry saved-history limit also matter. Exported history is a record, not a restore file.
- Tagcast shows an older version: quit older Tagcast instances and their source/terminal servers, then start the complete new package. Closing only a browser tab does not stop its server. Check the footer version. For source use, reload an already-open page after updating; save or explicitly pause work first because a reload discards temporary drafts and the queue.
- A system warning blocks installation: use the official download and checksum steps. Do not treat a checksum or an unsigned-app exception as proof that an arbitrary download is safe.
Include your Tagcast version, operating system, desktop app or browser name, exact message, action attempted and whether the result was sent/checking/confirmed. For an import, use a small example with fictional metadata if possible. A redacted screenshot or report can help; remove account details, tokens, source keys and private library information. Report through GitHub Issues, or ask a general question on r/Tagcast.
