Sparkilo — User Guide (English)

Pay less per litre. Burn fewer of them per kilometre. See exactly what you spent.

Sparkilo is a free, open-source app for cutting the running cost of your car — and you don't even need an account to use it. It works on three fronts:

  1. Pay less at the pump — live fuel-price comparison across 17 countries, EV charging too, route-aware "best stops" planning, drop alerts, and a 30-day price history.
  2. Burn less behind the wheel — record trips with just your phone's GPS (no hardware needed) or plug in any ELM327-compatible OBD-II adapter for live coaching, per-trip scores, and the moments that wasted fuel.
  3. See what you actually spent — a fill-up log (type it, scan the pump display, or scan the receipt), consumption and cost stats, a full trip logbook, and a Carbon dashboard for cost and CO₂.

No ads. No tracking. No Google Play Services. No Firebase. No sign-up. Your data stays on your phone unless you explicitly turn on cloud sync.

The 17 supported countries

🇩🇪 Germany · 🇫🇷 France · 🇦🇹 Austria · 🇪🇸 Spain · 🇮🇹 Italy · 🇩🇰 Denmark · 🇵🇹 Portugal · 🇱🇺 Luxembourg · 🇸🇮 Slovenia · 🇬🇧 United Kingdom · 🇦🇷 Argentina · 🇦🇺 Australia · 🇲🇽 Mexico · 🇰🇷 South Korea · 🇨🇱 Chile · 🇬🇷 Greece · 🇷🇴 Romania

Prices are fetched from the official government open-data source of each country. Germany requires a free API key (from tankerkoenig.de); the others work out of the box.

The app is also translated into 23 languages — bg, cs, da, de, el, en, es, et, fi, fr, hr, hu, it, lt, lv, nb, nl, pl, pt, ro, sk, sl, sv — and picks the right one automatically from your system locale.

First time? Start here

  1. Install the app from the Play Store or a direct APK — no account, no email.
  2. Accept the privacy consent (shown on first launch).
  3. Pick your country (auto-detected from your phone's language).
  4. Enter the free key for Germany if that's your country (every other country just works).
  5. Tap the big Search button in the middle of the bottom bar to find the cheapest station near you.
  6. (Optional, but where the savings really compound) — switch to Medium or Full in Settings → Use mode and start logging fill-ups and recording trips. You only need an OBD2 adapter on Full; Medium records trips with just your phone's GPS.
