Discord Rich Presence — Using Your Own Client ID (Recommended)

Discord Rich Presence works out of the box through this project's own shared Discord Application (Client ID) — nothing to set up just to try it. That ID is shared by everyone running this build, though, so it's recommended, but not required, to create your own free Discord application and point the app at it instead: your status stops depending on anything happening to the shared community one, and you're free to customize its art assets.

Quick version:

  1. Create a free application at the Discord Developer Portal and copy its Client ID.
  2. Open runtime/settings.json and replace discord_rpc.client_id with your own Client ID.
  3. Restart the app.

This is entirely optional — Rich Presence keeps working with the default shared ID if you skip it, and what data it shows (and that it's local/private) is unaffected either way. See DISCORD_SETUP.md for the full walkthrough (including optional custom art assets), plus general setup, troubleshooting, and advanced configuration (update interval, disabling it, etc.) in the rest of that guide.
