Jason Goelz studied viticulture at Cal Poly State University and began his career as a small lot winemaker. He worked for Steve Dorcich as consultant, sales and cellar manager before founding Sapid Wines in 2004.
Goelz partnered with Dorcich to develop a 10,000-square-foot state-of-the-art wine facility at 11775 Watsonville Road in Gilroy to house all aspects of the operation.
Sapid Wines evolved into Jason-Stephens Winery, operated by husband and wife team Jason and Janu Goelz. The winery focuses on limited releases of traditional Bordeaux varietals sourced from Santa Cruz Mountains vineyards.
