Hardware Oddity TV Scanout

TV scanout alongside CRTC

Evidence: reported Xbox behavior; public register-level reproduction incomplete. MakeMHz's Project Stellar research report describes a second TV-oriented scanout system running alongside CRTC, coordinated configuration, changed CRTC meanings, and controls affecting underflow/overflow behavior. The article does not disclose enough register detail to turn the full mechanism into a reproducible silicon specification.

Do not read “overflow” here as texture-memory overflow. The report concerns display generation. Rendering corruption, scanout interpretation, and encoder configuration are separate diagnostic layers.

Proposed test: capture mode-switch register sequences together with measured output timing and image, then change one display parameter at a time. Retain the original report label until the register behavior is independently reproduced.
