OnAir keeps its own folder. Here is what is in it and how to get at it.
| What | Windows | macOS | Linux |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data (recordings, results, codecs) | %LOCALAPPDATA%\OnAir |
~/Library/Application Support/OnAir |
~/.local/share/onair (or $XDG_DATA_HOME/onair) |
| Cache (temporary files) | %LOCALAPPDATA%\OnAir\cache |
the system cache folder |
~/.cache/onair (or $XDG_CACHE_HOME/onair) |
| Settings | %APPDATA%\OnAir\settings.conf |
the app's preferences (macOS defaults) | ~/.config/onair/settings.conf |
| Log and crash report | %APPDATA%\OnAir\onair.log |
~/Library/Logs/OnAir |
~/.config/onair (and the terminal) |
The environment variable DECT2_DATA_DIR points OnAir at another folder for everything it writes, which is how test runs keep away from your own data.
Folder names above are read from the program's code; the app's buttons (Show recording, Open codecs folder) always open the right folder on your computer.
- Press Record IQ in the Source panel, or run
onair-cli --record auto --secs 10. Files go to therecordingsfolder of the data folder; Show recording opens it. - With SigMF ticked (the default) each recording also gets a
.sigmf-metafile (sample rate, data type, centre frequency, time) and the same data under a.sigmf-dataname (a hard link, no second copy), so it opens in IQEngine and other SigMF tools. - A recording opens again through the IQ recording file source. SigMF and two-channel WAV IQ files describe themselves (rate, centre frequency, format); raw files such as
.cs8,.cu8,.cf32,.ci16and.cu16need the sample rate (a name likecapture_2Msps.cs8gives it). - Open it in the Signal workbench to measure and demodulate it without a radio.
- Decoded lists stay until you press Clear (or Clear all in the top bar).
- Save results... writes CSV or JSON, ADIF (call, grid, band, mode, RST / SNR, UTC) for the amateur modes, and KML or GPX for positions (ADS-B, AIS, APRS, FLARM, sondes); pick "since start" or "all".
- The spectrum analyser can save full-resolution CSV on a timer into a folder.
- DAB and TV services can save their audio stream. DRA or MPEG audio streams go to
audio-streams/in the data folder. - Receivers keep their results per receiver (
results/,results_rx2/and so on).
- View > Language: English plus German, French, Spanish, Chinese and Lithuanian; Portuguese (Brazil) and Hungarian were added for 0.2.6, and Japanese, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian and Russian are registered in the language list.
- View > Text size (Ctrl + / Ctrl -), the Light and High contrast themes (View > Theme), an own accent colour and Reset layout.
- Reduce CPU when hidden.
- Per radio: sample rate per mode, the bias-tee (remembered per mode and per radio) and the DC spike and IQ correction options.
- Your position (Maidenhead locator or coordinates) is kept on your computer and used for maps and satellite passes.
- Show in Discord is off by default, see Privacy.
Save bug report (in the diagnostics) writes one zip with the diagnostics, the log and the last crash report. Attach it to a GitHub issue together with a short IQ recording of the problem. Crash reports are written to a file next to the log; nothing is uploaded.
