Moving an agent from a laptop to production needs isolation between sessions, memory, identity, tool access and monitoring, and each is a project of its own. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is a managed platform for building, deploying and operating agents with those pieces provided as modular services.
The services can be used together or independently. Runtime is a serverless environment for deploying agents and tools with session isolation. Memory holds short-term and long-term context. Gateway turns APIs and Lambda functions into MCP-compatible tools. Identity connects to existing identity providers. Code Interpreter and Browser give agents isolated sandboxes for running code and using web pages. Observability traces agent steps in an OpenTelemetry-compatible format. Policy sets deterministic boundaries on tool calls, and Registry catalogs agents, tools and skills. Evaluations, Optimization and Payments are also listed.
AgentCore is described as working with any open-source framework and any foundation model, and with the MCP and A2A protocols. Pricing is consumption-based with no upfront commitment.
AWS Bedrock AgentCore is placed in Assess at the inner position. The evidence reviewed is AWS's own documentation, plus the owner's study notes and Terraform modules for an AgentCore sandbox. There is no first-person production use.
