Battery connections · Connection methods and sensors · Configuration index

Choose the battery during initial setup. Later, use Settings > Devices & Services > PowerSync > Configure > Battery connection method & sensors to choose its telemetry/control route. Edit connection details under Configure > Sigenergy connection.

Connection choices

Connection method What this route provides
PowerSync direct Modbus Direct device connection. Operations depend on the supported model, firmware and enabled write permissions.
Sigenergy Local Modbus integration — monitoring only Monitoring and planning only; this route does not enable battery dispatch.

Select one route for PowerSync. A second integration using the same device connection can cause conflicts; the companion-integration route is appropriate when that integration should own communications. See source discovery and switching.

Full support for Sigenergy hybrid inverters with integrated battery storage.

Features

  • Tariff Sync via Cloud API — Uploads pricing to Sigenergy Cloud using 30-minute time-of-use format
  • Real-Time Energy Data — Reads solar, battery, grid power and state of charge locally
  • DC Solar Curtailment — Stops grid export during negative prices while still powering your home
  • Grid Export Limit — The value selected in PowerSync Controls is saved as the persistent site cap, used by Smart Optimization, and restored after temporary zero-export curtailment
  • Charge / Discharge Rate Limits — Values selected in PowerSync Controls are saved as persistent caps, constrain Smart Optimization and force targets, and are restored after temporary optimizer modes; returning to native/VPP control restores the inverter-rated limits

Connection Requirements

Connection Purpose Required
Cloud API Tariff sync to Sigenergy Yes
Local (Modbus TCP) Real-time energy data + DC curtailment Yes

Important: Local Modbus access must be enabled on your Sigenergy inverter before PowerSync can connect. This is typically configured by your installer via the SigenStor app or installer portal.

Device ID Note: If you have an AC Charger installed, it uses Device ID 1 by default. The inverter must be set to a higher ID (e.g., 2).

Getting Cloud API Credentials

Credential Description Where to Find
Email Your Sigenergy account email Your login email
Password Your Sigenergy account password Your normal password
Device ID Optional — usually not needed Leave blank
Station ID Your Sigenergy station identifier SigenAI app or browser dev tools

Device ID (optional):

Leave this field blank — Sigenergy no longer requires a Device ID for authentication. If authentication fails without it, you can find it by:

  1. Go to https://app-aus.sigencloud.com/#/accounts/login in your browser (don't log in yet)
  2. Open Developer Tools (F12) > Network tab > filter by Fetch/XHR > check "Preserve log"
  3. Log in normally
  4. Find the token POST request > Payload tab > look for userDeviceId (13 digits)

Getting Station ID:

  • Ask SigenAI in the Sigenergy app: "Tell me my SN code"
  • Or find it in the browser dev tools network requests

Force Charge/Discharge (v2.5.0+)

Feature Description
Force Charge Charges battery from grid at a configurable power level
Force Discharge Discharges battery to grid
Restore Normal Returns to normal self-consumption and restores backup reserve
Backup Reserve Saved before force modes and restored automatically

Sigenergy Configuration

  1. In initial setup, choose your electricity provider first
  2. Select Sigenergy as your battery system
  3. Select your optimization provider
  4. Enter Cloud credentials (email, password)
  5. Select your station from the list
  6. Enter your inverter's IP address
  7. After setup, use Configure > Solar Curtailment if you want Sigenergy DC curtailment or AC inverter curtailment

When DC curtailment is active, the inverter's effective export limit temporarily becomes 0 kW, while the Export Limit control continues to show the configured non-curtailed cap. PowerSync restores that cap when the uneconomic-export window ends.

Check the result

After saving connection changes, allow the integration reload to complete. Check fresh battery SOC, grid/solar/battery power and home-load readings for the selected site. Compare signs and totals with the vendor/upstream readings. Planning sensors can update on a monitoring route; that does not establish dispatch capability. Verify any permitted control separately using readback and measured power.

Planned export and measured power

The optimizer's export power is the planned battery contribution. Sigenergy uses a separate whole-site export ceiling, so total grid export can be higher when solar is available, and actual battery power can change with solar and house loads. With solar present, PowerSync preserves PV-first operation rather than forcing the battery to match every planned watt. From v2.12.1447, a small battery export that meets its requested power no longer triggers a command refresh just because it is below 500 W. Low battery output can still trigger a refresh.

Field reference

The tables use the current form labels and help text. They list the conditional field union: a field can be hidden for a different battery, provider, route or available integration. The instructions above explain those conditions. Existing saved/discovered values take precedence over fresh fallbacks. Rate units follow the provider; check the displayed currency/energy unit.

Sigenergy Cloud login — initial setup

Field Meaning / input Fallback / limits
Email address Your Sigenergy Cloud account email address. Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback
Password Plain-text password (recommended). Encoded automatically. Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback
Device ID (optional) Optional 13-digit userDeviceId. Leave blank for modern accounts, including EU accounts that only show user_id, stationId, or stationCode. Fallback blank (see retention/clear rules)
Cloud region Select the Sigen Cloud data centre for your account. Europe uses the EU endpoint. Fallback aus
Pre-encoded password (advanced) Pre-encoded password from the Sigenergy API. Leave blank unless you know what this is. Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback

Sigenergy station — initial setup

Field Meaning / input Fallback / limits
Station ID To find your Station ID, ask SigenAI 'Tell me my SN code' in the Sigenergy app. Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback

Sigenergy Modbus connection — initial setup

Field Meaning / input Fallback / limits
Inverter IP address Local IP address of your Sigenergy inverter or gateway (e.g. 192.168.1.100). Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback
Modbus port Default Modbus TCP port is 502. Only change if customised. Fallback 502; 1–65535; step 1

Sigenergy connection — existing installation

Field Meaning / input Fallback / limits
Inverter IP address Local IP address of your Sigenergy inverter or gateway (e.g. 192.168.1.100). Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback
Modbus port Default Modbus TCP port is 502. Only change if customised. 1–65535; step 1
Modbus slave ID Default is 247. PowerSync auto-detects the correct registers. 0–247; step 1
Enable DC solar curtailment Reduce DC solar output when export earnings drop below the configured threshold (negative earnings by default). This is independent of battery export curtailment and requires Modbus write access; Monitoring Mode also requires curtailment-control permission. Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback
Grid export limit (kW) Your DNSP grid export limit in kW. Leave blank to auto-detect from inverter registers. Prevents PowerSync from ever exceeding your grid connection allowance. 0–100 kW; step 0.1
