Day-ahead electricity pricing for European markets. Belgium uses native 15-minute market intervals; the other supported regions use hourly intervals. Uses the free EPEX Predictor API which sources data from ENTSO-E and Energy-charts.info. No API key or account required.
| Code | Region |
|---|---|
| DE | Germany |
| AT | Austria |
| BE | Belgium |
| NL | Netherlands |
| SE1 | Sweden (Zone 1) |
| SE2 | Sweden (Zone 2) |
| SE3 | Sweden (Zone 3) |
| SE4 | Sweden (Zone 4) |
| DK1 | Denmark (Zone 1) |
| DK2 | Denmark (Zone 2) |
- Select EPEX Day-Ahead (EU) as your electricity provider
- Choose your bidding zone (e.g. BE for Belgium, DE for Germany)
- Enter your surcharge — fixed network fees, levies, and other per-kWh charges (ct/kWh)
- Enter your tax percentage — VAT applied on top of the total price (e.g. 21 for Belgium, 19 for Germany)
- Optionally set a fixed export rate — your feed-in tariff in ct/kWh. Leave it at 0 when unconfigured; exports then default to 0 ct/kWh unless an export price entity supplies values.
| Option | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Bidding Zone | Your EPEX electricity market region | DE |
| Surcharge | Fixed additional charges per kWh (network fees, levies, etc.) | 0 ct/kWh |
| Tax % | VAT percentage applied to the total price | 0% |
| Fixed Export Rate | Feed-in tariff in ct/kWh (0 = unconfigured; exports default to 0 ct/kWh unless an export price entity supplies values) | 0 ct/kWh |
- Prices are fetched every 30 minutes from the EPEX Predictor API
- Surcharges and tax are included in the returned prices — no manual calculation needed
- Belgium's 15-minute intervals and other regions' hourly intervals retain their published boundaries and are expanded to 5-minute optimizer slots
- All features work seamlessly: Smart Optimization, TOU sync, curtailment at negative prices, export boost, chip mode
- Day-ahead prices are typically published around 12:00-13:00 CET for the following day
- The API includes both published and predicted prices — predictions update as new data becomes available
- If you have a fixed feed-in tariff from your energy supplier, enter it as the Fixed Export Rate so the optimizer accurately values exports
- All prices are in euro cents per kWh (ct/kWh)
- This provider does not include AEMO spike detection (that is an Australian NEM feature)
Check the current import/export price and tariff schedule for the selected site and local time. On a menu-entered edit, saving provider settings can finish the flow directly; specialist settings remain under Advanced settings. Token/account success, an imported schedule and a hardware command are different outcomes. If rates or the site are wrong, reopen pricing rather than changing battery connection settings.
The tables use the current form labels and help text. They list the conditional field union: a field can be hidden for a different battery, provider, route or available integration. The instructions above explain those conditions. Existing saved/discovered values take precedence over fresh fallbacks. Rate units follow the provider; check the displayed currency/energy unit.
| Field | Meaning / input | Fallback / limits |
|---|---|---|
| Bidding zone | Choose a supported EPEX bidding zone: DE, AT, BE, NL, DK1, DK2, or SE1-SE4. | Fallback DE |
| Surcharge | Fixed network fees, levies, and other charges in ct/kWh. Added to the wholesale price before tax. | Fallback 0.0; 0–50 ct/kWh; step 0.1 |
| Tax | VAT percentage applied on top of the total price. Example: 21 for Belgium, 19 for Germany. | Fallback 0.0; 0–50 %; step 0.5 |
| Fixed export rate | Fixed feed-in tariff in EUR ct/kWh. Used when Fixed export rate is selected; leave at 0 if unconfigured. | Fallback 0.0; 0–50 ct/kWh; step 0.1 |
| Export valuation source | Choose Fixed export rate (the default), Raw EPEX wholesale forecast, or Custom export price sensor. Raw wholesale values are modelled EPEX Predictor EUR ct/kWh values: import surcharges, network fees, levies, and tax are excluded. Negative wholesale prices remain visible but do not create optimizer export revenue. | Fallback fixed_rate |
| Import price sensor | Optional Home Assistant sensor for actual import costs. Use ct/kWh or EUR/kWh; a price_values attribute can provide a forecast. | Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback |
| Export price sensor | Optional Home Assistant sensor for actual export earnings. Use ct/kWh or EUR/kWh; a price_values attribute can provide a forecast. | Saved/detected value or the form’s shown fallback |
