Localvolts (Australia)

All providers · Tariff periods · Configuration index

Choose this provider during initial setup, or open Settings > Devices & Services > PowerSync > Configure > Electricity pricing & provider to change its settings. Use the written plan for your site and account; examples are not a substitute for your contract.

Real-time wholesale pricing with native 5-minute resolution. Localvolts provides marginal import and export prices with up to 24 hours of forward forecast data.

Setup:

  1. Obtain your API Key and Partner ID from Localvolts
  2. Select Localvolts during PowerSync setup
  3. Enter your API Key, Partner ID, and NMI (National Meter Identifier)
  4. Configure export boost and chip mode settings (optional)

Configuration

Option Description
API Key Your Localvolts API key (keep this secret)
Partner ID Your Localvolts Partner ID
NMI Your 10-digit National Meter Identifier. Use * for all authorized NMIs.

How It Works

  • Prices are fetched every 5 minutes from the Localvolts API
  • All features work seamlessly: Smart Optimization, TOU schedule sync (where supported by your battery system), curtailment at negative prices, export boost, and chip mode
  • Forward forecast is limited to ~24 hours (the optimizer pads beyond this with the last known price)
  • AEMO spike detection can be configured independently for price spike exports

Notes

  • Localvolts does not include Amber's spike status field. To get automatic battery discharge during NEM price spikes, enable AEMO Spike Detection separately.
  • If no import or export activity occurred in a forecast period, the price is treated as 0.0 c/kWh.
  • Localvolts is a NEM provider, so PowerSync can still use AEMO dispatch events as the settlement trigger for schedule refreshes.

Verify and save

Check the current import/export price and tariff schedule for the selected site and local time. On a menu-entered edit, saving provider settings can finish the flow directly; specialist settings remain under Advanced settings. Token/account success, an imported schedule and a hardware command are different outcomes. If rates or the site are wrong, reopen pricing rather than changing battery connection settings.

Field reference

The tables use the current form labels and help text. They list the conditional field union: a field can be hidden for a different battery, provider, route or available integration. The instructions above explain those conditions. Existing saved/discovered values take precedence over fresh fallbacks. Rate units follow the provider; check the displayed currency/energy unit.
