Choose this provider during initial setup, or open Settings > Devices & Services > PowerSync > Configure > Electricity pricing & provider to change its settings. Use the written plan for your site and account; examples are not a substitute for your contract.
Static pricing with AEMO spike detection for VPP participation. No API token required. See Advanced Features for details on automatic discharge during price spikes.
The AEMO VPP provider is the generic version of this path for Australian plans that pay or require dispatch during NEM price spikes, including plans from retailers other than GloBird. Select the correct NEM region and spike threshold. Tesla sites can also use the Tesla tariff as their normal TOU source; non-Tesla sites use the PowerSync tariff schedule and custom TOU periods.
For Sungrow systems on a GloBird-style VPP, PowerSync also exposes a Sungrow-specific AEMO spike option that uses the $3000/MWh dispatch threshold. The active spike-response path requests discharge using the configured threshold and attempts recovery afterward; optimization mode, monitoring, ownership and device response determine the outcome.
FOUR4FREE rates and time windows can differ by account, state, signup date, and offer version. Use the exact tariff in your GloBird Welcome Pack or bill rather than copying rates from another customer or a current public offer.
PowerSync provides two FOUR4FREE choices:
- FOUR4FREE — automatic from tariff source uses a complete tariff schedule already supplied to PowerSync. Tesla Powerwall is the usual zero-configuration source because Tesla exposes the site's stored tariff, but automatic mode is not Tesla-only: another integration or imported custom schedule can also supply it.
- FOUR4FREE — manual/custom tariff opens PowerSync's tariff editor so you can enter the exact import rates, export rates, periods, and applicable days from your own plan documents. Use this when no authoritative complete schedule is available or when the Tesla tariff needs to be overridden.
Both choices are ordinary account tariffs, not ZEROHERO settlement presets. PowerSync therefore does not apply ZEROHERO export caps, no-import credits, or ZeroCharge allowances to FOUR4FREE.
The selected tariff's import price is passed into every Smart Optimization slot. When the battery has usable energy, discharging to cover household load avoids that import cost; the optimizer continues to value avoided imports until constrained by the optimizer reserve floor, hardware reserve, power limits, forecast needs, or a cheaper upcoming charge opportunity. A brief grid import can still occur between control cycles or while the inverter is responding, so compare the timestamp with the decisions log and sensor.power_sync_optimization_status before treating it as a planned import.
Choose the exact dated preset that matches your written account terms, or ZeroHero custom / account-specific when the preset does not match. The preset supplies the bonus window, total Super Export rate, export allowance, no-import credit/threshold and ZeroCharge terms. These vary between offers; do not copy another customer's hours or rates.
Keep the tariff's base import and feed-in rates accurate. PowerSync models the capped Super Export top-up separately: the bonus raises eligible exported energy from the base FiT to the configured total rate, only while the allowance remains. Entering the boosted total as an uncapped base tariff can overvalue export after the bonus is exhausted. Do not set a real positive FiT to zero merely to create an export preference. Use Minimum battery export price to restrict intentional optimizer battery export. The effective value can include an eligible active quota bonus while allowance remains; a positive value equal to the floor meets the price test but does not guarantee dispatch. Natural solar and manual/external controls are separate.
The no-import credit and capped export bonus are separate. Losing the evening no-import credit does not automatically remove the remaining export bonus. ZeroCharge is separate again: the configured daily-average allowance forms a local calendar-month pool. All site imports inside its window, including household use, consume that pool. A daily average is not a hard per-day cutoff. Check the selected preset/custom terms against your written plan.
For non-Tesla systems, enable Configure custom tariff when account rates are not supplied by an authoritative complete source, then follow Tariffs and time periods. The base tariff and the selected ZEROHERO settlement model must describe the same account.
If you use Tesla Powerwall and select an automatic GloBird plan, configure the time-of-use tariff in Tesla before PowerSync can use it.
- In the Tesla app, upload or select the correct Globird/TOU tariff for the Powerwall site.
- Restart Home Assistant or reload the PowerSync integration so PowerSync fetches the Tesla tariff and caches it as the normal baseline.
- Add or reconfigure PowerSync, choose Globird as the electricity provider and Tesla Powerwall as the battery system, then choose the automatic plan option. Choose the manual/custom FOUR4FREE option instead when you intentionally want PowerSync's tariff editor to override Tesla pricing.
- Check
sensor.power_sync_tariff_scheduleafter startup. It should show the period and price that match the Tesla tariff for the current time. Check the optimizer forecast and allowance status against the selected preset; base FiT and capped bonus are separate.
PowerSync does not upload a fresh Globird tariff to Tesla every 5 minutes. In automatic Tesla + GloBird mode, the stored Tesla tariff is the normal TOU source; PowerSync uses it for the tariff schedule sensor, Smart Optimization price inputs, EV planning, and restore-after-force-mode behaviour. If you change the tariff in Tesla later, restart Home Assistant or reload PowerSync again before trusting the optimizer.
If you previously configured a PowerSync custom tariff while testing, remove or update that stale tariff. Automatic mode normally reads the Tesla tariff; an explicitly selected manual/custom plan has different source precedence. Check the selected mode before removing a valid custom tariff.
Check the current import/export price and tariff schedule for the selected site and local time. On a menu-entered edit, saving provider settings can finish the flow directly; specialist settings remain under Advanced settings. Token/account success, an imported schedule and a hardware command are different outcomes. If rates or the site are wrong, reopen pricing rather than changing battery connection settings.
Open Configure > Provider portal login to connect or refresh the GloBird account login. This entry appears only for GloBird. The portal supplies account, billing and usage metadata; it does not replace the selected tariff/preset, battery connection or AEMO spike settings. Use Connect or refresh GloBird portal login to enter the credential step, or skip the connection when it is not needed. Successful login is not proof the account's full TOU schedule has been imported.
The tables use the current form labels and help text. They list the conditional field union: a field can be hidden for a different battery, provider, route or available integration. The instructions above explain those conditions. Existing saved/discovered values take precedence over fresh fallbacks. Rate units follow the provider; check the displayed currency/energy unit.
