Sew Settings
Makes one tailoring item: knitting, sewing (cloth) or leatherworking. It studies the recipe, takes the material and tools, works the item through every step the game asks for (cutting, pinning, measuring, smoothing, punching holes, assembling parts, and so on), then does what you asked with the finished item. It can also seal, reinforce or lighten tailored armor.
You often won't run it yourself: craft and workorders run it for outfitting.
See Crafting Setup for outfitting tools, toolbelts and books.
outfitting_belt:
crafting_container: backpack
crafting_items_in_container:| Setting | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| outfitting_belt | Toolbelt your tools hang on, if any. | |
| crafting_container | backpack | Where tools, material, parts and consumables are kept. |
| crafting_items_in_container | Items to take only from crafting_container. |
Tools are taken by name as each step needs them: knitting needles, scissors, sewing needles, pins, slickstone, yardstick, awl, sealing wax and cotton thread. If one can't be found, it stops and says which. (Your outfitting_tools list is what workorders repairs; sew doesn't read it.)
Before starting it checks your pins and thread, or your sealing wax when sealing. If you have none, or yours is down to fewer than 3 uses, it throws the old one away and buys a new one at the tailoring shop in your hometown (or force_crafting_town). Knitting skips this. If one runs out partway through, it restocks and carries on. The skip argument turns off the check at the start.
hometown: Crossing
force_crafting_town:master_crafting_book:It uses your master_crafting_book if set, otherwise a tailoring book from crafting_container. With the instructions form, it studies <noun> instructions instead.
waggle_sets:
sew:
crafting_training_spells:Before starting it casts your sew waggle set, if you have one. It also casts your crafting_training_spells between steps (see Crafting Setup), and releases them when it's done.
| Setting | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| mark_crafted_goods | false | Mark the finished item with your stamp. Not done for enhancements. |
| cube_armor_piece | The item your Hollow Eve cube is attached to. It's touched when work starts. | |
| worn_trashcan / worn_trashcan_verb | A worn trash container, used with the trash finish. |
There are no settings for these; this is what to expect.
-
Material. Knitting uses yarn. For sewing, the material name is a cloth (burlap, linen, silk, imperial weave and so on), and it takes
<material> cloth. Anything else is taken as<material> leather. -
Parts. When the item needs a part assembled (padding, a handle, a hilt, cord and so on), it takes the part from
crafting_containerand assembles it. - Not enough material. It stops and says so.
- Rented rooms. If you're in a rented crafting room, it checks the rental notice and renews the rental when there are under 10 minutes left, or when the game warns it's almost up.
- Engaged. If you're in combat, it retreats and waits before carrying on.
