Smith Settings
Forges one blacksmithing, weaponsmithing or armorsmithing item from its recipe. It buys the parts the recipe needs (and the ingot, if you ask it to), goes to an anvil, checks your oil, then has ;forge do the smithing. It can also stamp the item and apply enhancements such as tempering or honing.
craft runs it for forging training.
See Crafting Setup and the Forging Tutorial for forging tools, toolbelts and tongs; ;forge uses them.

force_crafting_town:

forge_private_forge_cost:| Setting | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| force_crafting_town | Buy parts and forge in this town instead of your hometown. |
|
| use_private_forge | false | Forge in the town's private forge. The older name forge_use_private_forge also works. |
| forge_private_forge_cost | 50,000 | Copper to have on hand for the private forge. |
Without a private forge, it finds a free anvil in town. With one, it walks to the private forge and checks the rental notice, renewing the rental if it has under 15 minutes left. Private forges are in Crossing, Leth Deriel, Shard, Shadow's Reach, Aesry and Fang Cove; if your town has none, it stops and says so.

With buy, the ingot it buys is your metal_type, whatever metal you name in the command. Name the same metal, or the forging won't find it.
Before forging, it casts your smith waggle set, if you have one.

Coin. It makes sure you have 3,000 copper on hand, withdrawing from your bank if needed (not with
here). -
Parts. It buys each part the recipe needs, plus a leather strip for
reinforce, and throws away any left over afterwards. -
Ingot. With
buy, it buys an ingot, and throws away the leftover piece afterwards. If the shop's ingots are too small for the recipe, it stops: combine ingots by smelting them yourself first. - Oil. If you have no oil, or it's down to fewer than 3 uses, it throws it away and buys more.

The recipe. The recipe name is matched against
base-recipes.yaml. If it matches more than one, you pick with;send <number>; use the full name (for examplea metal pike) to avoid that.
;smith <material> "<recipe name>" [options]
| Argument | Purpose |
|---|---|
| material | Required. The ingot's metal, e.g. bronze. |
| recipe name | Required. The recipe name, in double quotes if more than one word. |
| buy | Buy the ingot (see the note above). |
| stamp | Mark the finished item with your stamp. |
| here | Forge in the room you're in, e.g. a rented forge or with a forge wand. It doesn't buy parts, find an anvil, or check coin or the rental. Don't combine it with buy: buying the ingot walks you to the shop. |
| temper | Temper the item afterwards, for durability. |
| hone | Weapons: hone, reducing weight and impact. |
| balance | Weapons: balance, improving balance at the cost of suitability. |
| lighten | Armor and shields: lighten, reducing weight. |
| reinforce | Improve protection at the cost of weight and hindrance. Buys a leather strip. |
