Grab System
Automates the full Draw Steel grab workflow: initiating a grab, applying the grabbed condition, moving grabbed tokens with the grabber, and resolving escapes. The
Grab Panel. A panel that lists all active grabs in the scene.
- Control your source token and target the token to grab.
- Click New Grab in the Grab Panel, or use the grab macro from the compendium.
- Roll the Grab ability. DSCT reads the result tier automatically.
- On T2, the target's free strike button appears in chat; confirm or cancel the grab in the panel. On T3 the grab is applied immediately.
A creature can grab targets of equal or smaller size. If the grabber's Might is 2 or higher, they can target creatures with a size equal to or less than their Might score instead. The Director can bypass size checks entirely in settings.
When a grab is active, the grabbed token automatically follows the grabber's movement on the canvas.
When a grabbed token attempts to escape, a free strike opportunity appears in chat for the grabber. If the escape succeeds, the grab ends automatically.
While grabbed, the target cannot be knocked back or moved by forced movement (the grab physically prevents it). The Director can override this per-move using the No Knockback Guard toggle in the FM panel.
The grabber's speed is reduced while grabbing a target of equal or larger size (per Draw Steel rules). This is tracked as a condition on the grabber token.
- The grabbed token successfully escapes.
- Either the grabber or grabbed token is teleported.
- Either token is defeated.
- The Director clicks End Grab in the Grab Panel.
| Setting | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Enable Grab | Master toggle for grab automation |
| Grabbed Effect Icon | Icon used for the Grabbed active effect on the target; change with the file picker |
| Grabber Effect Icon | Icon used for the Grabber active effect on the grabbing token; change with the file picker |
| Director Bypasses Size Checks | Allows grabbing any size target |
| Restrict Grab Buttons to Director | Players cannot initiate grabs |
- Grab state is stored as active effects on the tokens, so it survives a page reload. The in-memory tracking is rebuilt automatically when the canvas loads.
- The grab panel is accessible to players if the Director enables it.
