Storage
Chests and tanks hold items and fluids between the steps of your factory. You start with the Wooden Chest; bigger chests, the Storage Tank for fluids and the Logistic Chests for Goblins come with research.

- Press Use to open a chest.
- Grabbers put items into any free space and take out whatever the next block accepts.
- When you pick up a chest, its contents go into your inventory with it. Whatever does not fit drops to the ground.
A chest at the end of a line is a good buffer: it catches the overflow so the machines in front of it keep working, and you can see at a glance how much you produce.
The Storage Tank stores fluids such as water, oil and lubricant.

How pipes, pumps and fluids work is explained on Fluids.
Logistic Chests connect your factory to the flying Goblins of a Goblin Hut. All three have 32 slots and are unlocked by the Goblin Logistics research (Epoch 2).
| Chest | What Goblins do with it |
|---|---|
| Logistic Chest (Provider) | take everything out of it and bring it where it is needed |
| Logistic Chest (Requester) | bring every requested item up to a full stack |
| Logistic Chest (Storage) | store items there and take them out again |
Each one is made from 1 Steel Chest + 3 Electronic Circuit.
To request an item, open a Requester and search for the item, use the item in your hand, or simply put one of it into the chest. Goblins then keep it topped up to a full stack.
Goblins, their huts and their range are explained on Goblins.
When you die, a Death Chest appears where you fell, holding your whole inventory (54 slots). Anyone can empty it with Use, and it disappears once it is empty. You cannot craft, mine or pick up a Death Chest, and creatures do not attack it. See Death and Respawn.
