mcRPG is a fork of mcMMO and follows its development branch, so most skills and abilities work exactly as they do in mcMMO. This page lists what's different. If you know mcMMO, this is the page to read.
| Feature | What it is |
|---|---|
| Specializations | Every player picks two skill categories. Skills in the Primary earn 1.25× XP, in the Secondary 1.0×, and everything else 0.35×. The only way to change one is to abandon it, which cuts every skill in it to 10% of its XP. |
| Six skill categories | Melee Combat, Ranged Combat, Metallurgy, Botany, Blacksmithing and Survivalism, used for Specializations, /rpgstats and the menus |
| Category Passives | Leather, Chainmail and Copper Mastery (armor) and Wooden Mastery (tools), for players specialized in Survivalism, Blacksmithing, Metallurgy and Botany |
| Smelting and Salvage are full skills | In mcMMO their levels came from other skills. In mcRPG they earn their own XP, have their own leaderboards, and can be chosen as Specializations. |
| Salvage XP and Salvage Mastery | Salvage pays for gear worn by players and enchantments found in loot. Salvage Mastery gives back more materials from damaged gear as you level. Any level can salvage any gear. |
| Smelting XP | Pays for smelting ores only, about half the ore's Mining XP |
| Skills menu |
/skills browses every skill, its abilities and guide |
| Specialization menu |
/choosespecialization opens a menu for choosing |
| Removed | Why |
|---|---|
| Parties (party chat, teleport, alliances, XP and item sharing) | mcRPG focuses on individual skills and trading between specialists |
| Chat channels (admin chat, party chat, chat spying) | All messages go to normal chat |
XP boost perks (mcmmo.perks.xp.*) |
Specializations are the only thing that changes a player's XP rate |
XP events (/xprate) |
Leveling is meant to be slow and steady |
| Child skills | Smelting and Salvage are full skills |
| RetroMode (levels 0–1,000) | mcRPG uses Standard scaling (0–100) only |
| Area | mcMMO | mcRPG |

Everything else: the XP curve (mcMMO Standard mode), every skill's abilities and their numbers, super abilities, Limit Break, treasures, anti-exploit protections, block tracking, databases, and the config file layout. mcRPG pulls in mcMMO's updates semi-regularly.
mcRPG is a fork of mcMMO by nossr50 and the mcMMO contributors, released under the GNU GPL v3. Found a mistake on this wiki or a bug in the plugin? Open an issue.
