Woodcutting

Category: Botany · Command: /woodcutting · Super ability: Tree Feller

Woodcutting gives you more wood, clears leaves in a swipe, and can fell a whole tree at once.

Earning XP

Break naturally grown logs and other wood blocks with an axe. Stripping logs gives nothing, and neither do blocks placed by players.

Block XP Block XP
Oak Log 70 Spruce Log 80
Birch Log 90 Acacia Log 90
Dark Oak Log 90 Mangrove Log 95
Jungle Log 100 Cherry Log 105
Pale Oak Log 130 Crimson / Warped Stem 35
Crimson / Warped Hyphae 50 Shroomlight 100
Red / Brown Mushroom Block 70 Mushroom Stem 80
Mangrove Roots 10 Nether / Warped Wart Block 1

Wood blocks (the six-sided bark versions) are worth the same as their logs or a little less.

Super ability: Tree Feller

Right-click with an axe to ready it, then chop a log. Unlocks at level 5.

  • The whole tree comes down at once (up to 1,000 blocks), and its drops land at your feet.
  • Every extra log costs axe durability.
  • Each log after the first is worth 5 XP less than the one before (never less than 1), so a huge tree pays less per log than chopping it by hand.
  • Lasts 2 seconds + 1 second per 5 levels (22 seconds at level 100), with a 240-second cooldown.

Abilities

Ability Unlocks What it does
Harvest Lumber Level 1 Chance for double drops from logs: 1% per level, 100% at level 100
Clean Cuts Level 100 Chance for triple drops instead. It keeps rising past level 100, up to 50% at level 1,000.
Leaf Blower Level 15 Break leaves instantly with an axe
Knock on Wood Level 30 (ranks at 30, 60) Rank 1: leaves broken by Tree Feller always drop saplings. Rank 2: other blocks broken by Tree Feller also have a chance to drop experience orbs.

Tips

  • Pale oak, cherry and jungle trees pay the most per log.
  • Tree Feller is about speed, not XP. For the most XP per log, chop by hand.
  • Woodcutting keeps improving past level 100 thanks to Clean Cuts.
  • Woodcutting is in Botany with Herbalism and Alchemy. See Wooden Mastery for Botany's passive.
