Soundpad
The Soundpad integration displays the name of the sound currently playing in Soundpad, so the room can see what you just played instead of only hearing it.
- Soundpad, installed and running.
- The π Soundpad Bridge permission, which MagicChatbox asks for when you enable the integration.
Important
This integration needs the π Soundpad Bridge permission. Decline it and the integration switches itself back off. You can grant it later under Options β Privacy.
-
Soundpad has no Options section, and that is deliberate β the bridge permission is its only setting. Everything else is automatic:
- Your Soundpad installation is found on its own. There is no path to enter.
- The πΆ icon in front of the sound name is fixed.
- The output is the sound title in quotes, with the icon:
πΆ 'airhorn.mp3'
- The Integrations tile gives you the on/off switch, the DESKTOP and VR chips, and playback buttons β Previous, Next, Random, Play, Pause and Stop β so you can drive Soundpad without leaving MagicChatbox.
Note
If you are looking for a "Soundpad location" or "Prefix icon" setting because you read about them somewhere, they do not exist. The tile's CUSTOMIZE door says so rather than sending you to an empty page.
- MagicChatbox talks to Soundpad over its remote control pipe β the interface Soundpad provides for exactly this purpose. It asks Soundpad directly for its playback state and the title of the current sound.
- Soundpad reports one of four states: PLAYING, PAUSED, SEEKING or STOPPED. Output appears while a sound is actually playing.
- If the pipe cannot be reached, MagicChatbox falls back to reading Soundpad's window title. That fallback cannot see anything while Soundpad is minimised to the tray, so you may get:
π Unable to read Soundpad β remote control unavailable and its window is minimized to the tray. Updating Soundpad usually fixes this.
Tip
That message means the pipe is unavailable, and an out-of-date Soundpad is the usual reason. Update Soundpad, or bring its window out of the tray as a temporary workaround.
-
Work through these in order.
- Is Soundpad running? The integration has nothing to read otherwise, and says π Soundpad is not running.
- Is a sound actually playing? Nothing is printed when playback is stopped.
- Was the permission granted? Check Options β Privacy for the π Soundpad Bridge entry.
- Did it switch itself off? After five failures in a row the integration disables itself with a notice: Soundpad integration disabled after repeated errors β re-enable it to retry. Switch it back on once Soundpad is healthy.
Note
Revoking the Soundpad Bridge permission while it is running stops it immediately, with a notice saying so.
