Proposal for "Summer of Islandora" in lieu of Islandora Online

• too large of a commitment to undertake given Arran's limited time capacity and availability of ICC members to organize

• will theme the next 3 month's of Open Meetings and communicate to community themes/demos/topics for discussion

• will hopefully draw people in to Open Meetings and increase attendance if we communicate it properly

• Bethany offered to demo something at July Open Meeting

• Roadmap for Islandora 8's implementation of the install profile & theme and its IR development

Roadmap for Islandora 8 (Don)

• Update on roadmap? Realized that there isn’t one yet, but wanted to bring it to the ICC to reach out for help
• Outreach to community to try and draft this
• Islandora Install profiles included in this
• How to move forward with install profiles and IR components and how they help us move to Islandora
• No official procedure for doing this
• Looking for cohesiveness from IR interest group meeting (IR/IG)
  • IR stuff is moving quickly and install profile is moving quickly also
  • Community looking for a timeframe and what it means for community to change the stack
  • Danny hesitant to put a hard date on something that is being driven by community input
  • Can start to look at potential timeline based on number of sprints etc…
  • Pick maybe top 10 features and share it out to the community to gather feedback
  • Maybe we want to seed the doc for people to comment on
  • Rename the delta doc and share that out as a starting point (Don)
  • Should we involve the TAG? Probably
  • Start the doc w/ the TAG, then present to ICC then farm it our to the community for input
  • Danny to bring the doc to TAG

• Went through survey on what they wanted to do next
• Title field vs long title field
  • Discussion around finding a way to increase the limit without being in the database
  • Bethany found a module to modify the character limit
  • Danny - most non-destructive module. Bethany has used it
• Sandbox was set up to work on alignment stuff to work on Metadata MODS stuff
• Hard for metadata to access Islandora defaults and want to be able to participate in development
• Good meeting on what to do next

• ISLE 8 adapted to handle different install profiles
• Iterating on ISLE and ISLE docs as part of release
  • Less technology, more documentation focused right now
• Danny will be showing ISLE at next Opening Meeting (ask Danny for a description of this to share for Open Meeting)

• Used regular meeting time to start writing sprint which is on-going

• Discussion about future sprints and how to set them up, what to focus on and how to cater to all Islandora users

Islandora 8

• Code sprint finished and got everything worked on except for metatags for google indexing
  • There are PR’s for it, but it may not make it
• Will be adding advanced search
• Did batch uploader but needs user feedback
• To get it released, Danny updated sandbox (which is running on ISLE) and does give latest features
• Danny making a new sandbox for IR group for them to work on
• Gear up from feedback from DIG sprint
• Working on manual install stuff which is posing to be a hard and laborious process
  • Should we put a timeline on when to stop this process especially when it comes to documentation for the process because it isn’t current to begin with
  • This would be nice to do in theory, but there would be much resistance on it
    • Don’t currently have the community to support manual installs
    • People need to step up on it otherwise we just keep loosing Danny’s time to it
    • How can we offload it safely without leaving people behind

Arran to start planning process for "Summer of Islandora" Open Meeting sessions Danny will be presenting Islandora Community Update: Islandora at Home at Open Repositories - June 8th, 4:00pm UCT Arran will be presenting on behalf of IF at Repository Rodeo at Open Repositories -June 9th, 1:00pm UTC
