Minutes

New Business

  • Finding new members - Fedora leadership takes a more active role in recruiting new members htna the IF. Melissa would like some help with the next round - some volunteers for a sub-committee to look at new strategies, maybe breaking out the contacting among several people. Some volunteers on the call, and Melissa will reach out on the ICC email list for more.
  • Migrations IG? - Proposed new IG to share strategies tools, tips, pain points, etc on migrations Already have one possible co-convenor, looking for others to get it going. Interest from the group in joining the IG.

Interest Group Updates

  • Metadata IG (Rosie) - Looking at openrefine and other tools. Meeting minutes
  • IR Interest group (Don) - No report
  • ISLE Interest Group (Martha or Gavin) - New release coming soon (ISLE 1.4). Meeting minutes
  • ** Multi-tenancy Interest Group (Brandon) - First official meeting on Nov 8. The way forward defined at Islandoracon is a good one. Some PRs from Natkeeran are out there that will really help support this approach. Once in, Eli Zoller will put together a demo implementation. Meeting minutes

Islandora 8

  • Wrapping up documentation sprint today. Lots of activity. Many new pages, updates to existing pages. May need a few extra days to finish everything up. Special shout out to dgi's Dan Aitken for writing up a new summary and manual installation docs.
  • We will try to get a testing sprint done for December so we can do another release.
  • New webinar yesterday, showing 7 to 8 migrations. A few live demo hiccups, but overall a good showcase for the tools. Available on YouTube. Don Richard's has contributed a lot of fixes since Islandoracon, and an awesome GUI for doing the set up (instead of having to use the command line).
  • Several UX improvements are coming in
  • Working on a Special Topics call for the islandora 8 call to update our content modelling. Not backwards-breaking, but more flexible.

Islandora Camps

Round Table

  • Melissa - working on updates for islandora.ca . Stay tuned!
  • Aaron - LADI is soft launched! First Islandora 8 site live in public.
  • Dan A - Working through backlog of bug reports to add to the Issues list
  • David - Second Fedora 6 sprint is completed. Migration tool is complete (java command-line utility). Less relevant for us since Islandora has its own migration tools, but cool for OCFL and Fedora-only migrations. Jus about have basic CRUD functions for OCFL at the persistence layer. Should be alpha-ish by end of year. More sprints planned for next year to get it fully functional.
  • Rosie - Working on modeling problems for RDM, so digging deep into derivative workflows (will document for the community as well!). Pushing off migration for a little while to figure out the datasets model.
