Cloud Account and Data

This page covers your Flashback Cloud account itself: how sign-in and the age check work, what Cloud keeps about you, and how to download your data, sign out, or delete the account and, within seven days, change your mind. None of it affects the clips and settings on your PC.

You only have a Cloud account if you signed in to Cloud. Recording, editing and the Library never need one.

Signing in

Flashback Cloud has no passwords. You sign in through Discord, or Google where it's offered, in your normal web browser, from the app's Cloud tab or at flashbk.gg/account.

  • Use the same sign-in each time. A Discord sign-in and a Google sign-in are separate Cloud accounts.
  • When you sign in from the app, your browser opens, you approve the sign-in, and the browser hands the result straight back to Flashback on your PC.
  • The Discord or Google sign-in tokens are used once to read your basic profile and are then revoked. Flashback doesn't keep access to your Discord or Google account.

The age check

Before you sign in for the first time, Flashback asks for your date of birth.

  • You must be 13 or older to create a Cloud account. Accounts made before 0.8 are asked for a date of birth once.
  • Your date of birth is used only to check eligibility and to set an age band: 13 to 17, or 18 and over. The date itself isn't stored; only the age band and the fact that the check passed are kept. For ages 13 to 17, Cloud also keeps the year you turn 18 (never the full date), so a later age check can move you to 18 and over only once that's possible.
  • Accounts of people aged 13 to 17 have friends-only profiles, can't post clips publicly, and can't put links or contact details in their bios. If you're under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or guardian must approve your use and any purchase.

Agreeing to the Terms

Signing in requires accepting the Terms and Privacy Policy. When they change materially, you're shown the change before your next Cloud sign-in and asked to accept it before using the features it covers, such as profiles and friends. Uploads, billing and the clips you already have keep working while you decide.

How your session is protected

Where Protection
In the app Your Cloud session is stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Flashback\Cloud, encrypted for your Windows user with Windows DPAPI. Sessions use short-lived access tokens and refresh tokens that rotate on use; if an old refresh token is ever reused, the whole session is revoked.
On the web One essential, secure session cookie lasting up to 30 days, plus a 10-minute cookie during sign-in. No analytics or advertising cookies.
Everywhere Sign out of all browsers and apps on the web ends every session at once, the app's included.

The Flashback app itself contains no Discord, Cloudflare, storage or Stripe secrets. Your access lives only in your own protected session.

What Cloud keeps about you

This is a summary. The Privacy Policy is the full and authoritative version.

Kind What is stored
Account Your age band (and, for ages 13 to 17, the year you turn 18), that the age check passed, the agreement versions you accepted and when. From Discord: your user ID, display name and avatar reference. From Google: account ID, name, picture reference and your email address if Google has verified it.
Each upload The file and its poster image, title, size, duration, dimensions, frame rate, codec details, detected game, tags, visibility, a random share identifier and the upload state. Screenshots are stripped of hidden details (text notes, EXIF and XMP, timestamps) before they leave your PC.
Profile (only if you make one) Username, display name, bio, picture, friends, friend requests, blocks, the reactions you add (others see only counts), collections, pins, and search terms made from your clips' titles, tags and games.
Views The day a link was last viewed, and a once-a-day count per viewer using a key that changes daily, so viewers can't be followed across days.
Billing Stripe customer, subscription and checkout identifiers, your plan and status, paid-through date, any refund or dispute hold, and a record of the renewal terms you agreed to. Never your full card number.
Network Your IP address is turned into a secret-keyed, rotating value for rate limits and view counts instead of being stored raw. Operational logs use random request IDs and are normally kept no more than 30 days.
Support If you contact support: your email, the name you give, the messages and replies, and the request type.

Uploaded content is not used to train AI models or to target advertising.

Cloud's service providers are Cloudflare (delivery, database, security and storage), Discord and Google (sign-in), Stripe and Link (payments, tax and receipts) and Resend (email).

Download your data

You can get a copy of everything Flashback Cloud keeps about your account as a JSON file:

  • In the app: Cloud tab > Export my data, then choose where to save the file.
  • On the web: Settings > Download my data.

On the web you can also see Your reports, the reports you've sent.

Sign out

  • This PC only: Cloud tab > Sign out.
  • Everywhere: on the web, Settings > Sign out of all browsers and apps. It signs you out in every browser and in the Flashback app. You can sign in again anytime.

Delete your profile only

If you just want to stop using profiles and friends, Delete profile removes your @username, friends, requests, reactions, pins and collections, and keeps your account, plan and clips. See Profiles and Friends.

Delete your Cloud account

Deleting your Cloud account takes effect in two stages: your clips leave the web at once, and everything is deleted for good seven days later. Until then you can sign in again and keep the account.

You can start in either place:

  • In the app: Cloud tab > Account > Danger zone > Delete Cloud account…
  • On the web: Settings (or the Danger zone on your Account page) > Delete Cloud account.

Want a copy first? Both start by offering a download of your data as a JSON file.

Three steps

  1. See what happens. Flashback Cloud shows exactly what this account loses (your clips and screenshots and how much storage they use, your profile, collections and pins, your friends, requests, reactions and blocks, and any plan), the date it's final, what signing in again would do, and what's kept and why. If the details can't load, Try again fetches them; nothing is deleted.
  2. Confirm. Type your @username, or DELETE if you have no profile. Capital letters, spaces around it and the @ don't matter. Tick that you understand the clips and account data are deleted for good after seven days unless you sign in and keep the account, then choose Delete Cloud account.
    • On the web, unless you signed in within the last few minutes, you're first asked to Confirm it's you by signing in again. You come straight back to this step.
    • In the app, if the dialog stays open long enough for the details to expire, Flashback fetches fresh ones and sends the confirmation again. If your @username changed in the meantime, it asks you to type the new one.
  3. Done. You're shown the date everything is deleted for good, and how to change your mind.

What happens, and when

When What happens
Right away You're signed out of Cloud on every PC and browser. Any paid plan is cancelled and won't renew; the period already started isn't refunded. Your clips and screenshots leave the web and their share links stop working. Your profile disappears for everyone, and an uploaded profile picture is deleted.
For seven days Signing in again with the same Discord or Google account asks what to do. Keep my account cancels the deletion and puts your clips and profile back as they were; a large library can take a few minutes. The cancelled plan stays cancelled and an uploaded picture stays deleted. Start a new account gives you a new, empty account, and the old one can't be restored after that.
After seven days Everything above is deleted for good. Signing in after that starts a new, empty account without asking. Provider backups roll off on their own bounded schedules.
Never touched The clips, screenshots and settings on your PC.

A clip that was under review or a legal hold when you asked is kept privately until the case is closed, and the final deletion waits for it.

Starting over

A new account made with the same sign-in starts empty, but deleting can't undo safety actions:

  • It keeps the old account's moderation limits, the blocks other people made against it, friend requests it sent that were declined, and a 13 to 17 age band.
  • A sign-in that was banned or disabled by staff can't make a new account.
  • Starting over is limited. If a sign-in has started over too often lately, Flashback shows the date a new account becomes possible. The Terms have the details.
  • Your old @username stays reserved for that sign-in for a year, so only a new account made with the same sign-in can take it back.

What's kept, and why

The deletion screen lists what Flashback keeps, in the service's own words. Depending on the account:

Kept Why and for how long
Reports you filed (if any) Kept without your name until they're closed, and deleted a year after they're resolved.
Clips under review or a legal hold (if any) Kept privately until staff close the case; the final deletion waits for them.
A safety record A one-way code made from your sign-in, with any ban, moderation limits and blocks against the account. Kept for a year (longer while a ban applies) so deleting can't undo safety actions. It contains no clips, names, pictures or messages.
Billing records Payment, tax and renewal-consent records, as the law requires. Stripe keeps its own under its privacy policy.
Your @username (if you have one) Reserved for your sign-in for a year, so nobody else can take it to pose as you.
Support conversations Kept for two years after they're closed, then removed.
A note of the request That you asked for deletion, and when it finished.
Clips on your PC Never touched.

If you ask Link to delete your payment information, Link also cancels your Flashback subscription.
