Screenshots
Flashback takes full-quality PNG screenshots with their own shortcut, files them next to your clips under the right game, and lets you crop them without another app. This page covers taking, finding, cropping and sharing screenshots.
| How | Details |
|---|---|
| Global shortcut | Ctrl+Shift+F11 by default. Change it in Settings > Storage & shortcuts > Screenshot. |
| Tray menu | Right-click the tray icon and choose Take screenshot. |
| Replay tab | The Screenshot button next to Save replay. |
| Voice | Say "Flashback, screenshot", "Flashback, screenshot this" or "Flashback, screenshot that" with Voice Commands on. |
The screenshot shortcut is separate from Save replay, so you can grab a still without saving a clip. It also works while the replay buffer is paused.
- Format: PNG, taken from the display Flashback is recording. The mouse pointer follows your Show the mouse pointer in recordings setting.
-
Name:
{game} screenshot {date} {time}by default, for exampleValorant screenshot 2026-10-03 21-14-07.png. You can change the pattern separately from the clip pattern. - Folder: the same game-aware folders as your clips. A screenshot taken in a recognized game lands in that game's folder; anything else goes to your desktop folder.
See Naming and Organization for the tokens and rules.
While the replay buffer is running, a screenshot reuses the capture session that's already open. Flashback doesn't start a second, competing screen capture just for the still. When the buffer is paused, Flashback opens a short-lived capture just long enough to take the screenshot, then closes it.
Screenshots follow the same display as your recording. If you've set Flashback to follow your game, the screenshot is taken from the monitor your game is on.
Screenshots appear in the Library with your clips. To see only screenshots, set the Media type filter to Screenshots. They're marked SCREENSHOT (PHOTO in the compact list) so you can tell them apart at a glance. See Library.
- In the Library, click Edit screenshot on the screenshot.
- In Crop screenshot, drag a corner to crop and drag inside the frame to move it. Everything outside the bright frame is removed.
- Pick an Aspect ratio if you want one: Free, Original, 16 : 9, 4 : 3 or 1 : 1.
- Choose Save a copy to keep the original untouched, or Replace original to overwrite it.
Keyboard: arrow keys move the crop, Shift moves it 10 px at a time, and Ctrl+0 resets to the full image. Reset to full image does the same with a click.
Your original stays exactly as it was unless you choose Replace original.
- Locally: from the screenshot's ... menu, use Show in folder or Copy file path, then drop the file wherever you like.
- Flashback Cloud: choose Upload to Cloud. The screenshot uploads as a PNG or JPEG, and Flashback first removes hidden file details from the uploaded copy: text notes, EXIF and XMP camera and location data, and timestamps. The image itself isn't re-encoded, and the file on your PC stays as it is. A link to a shared screenshot previews the image itself in Discord. Screenshots are never uploaded automatically.
Cloud limits for screenshots are on Cloud Plans and Billing; who can see an upload is on Sharing and Visibility.
- Delete one from its ... menu with Delete capture.
- Select several with Select in the Library, then Delete selected.
- Remove every screenshot with Manage > Delete all screenshots..., which asks you to confirm twice.
Deletes from the Library are permanent. The storage limit can also remove the oldest captures for you; see Storage Limit.
