Reporting and Safety
Flashback Cloud's social features were designed to be hard to misuse, and easy to report when someone tries. This page explains the protections that are on by default, how to report a clip, profile or collection, how blocking works, and what happens after a report.
If you've found a security vulnerability rather than abusive content, see Security for private disclosure.
| Protection | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| New uploads are Only me | Nothing you upload is visible to anyone else until you choose. |
| Profiles are friends-only | Strangers who look you up see only your @username and an Add friend button. |
| Friends by @username only | No suggestions, no friend codes, no contact importing. |
| Silent declines | Someone you decline isn't told, and sending again doesn't reach you. |
| Anonymous reactions | Nobody, including the clip's owner, sees who reacted. You can turn reactions off. |
| Link clips are anonymous | A clip shared by link doesn't show who uploaded it unless you turn that on. |
| Renames really rename | An old @username never points to your new one. |
| Profile links can't pose as Flashback | Names the website uses, official-sounding names and file-like names can't be usernames, so flashbk.gg/<username> never looks like a Flashback page. |
| Honest titles | Clip titles and game names drop invisible text-direction characters, so a link preview can't read differently from what's stored. |
| No comments or DMs | There is no channel for strangers to message you. |
| Not indexed | Profile and clip pages ask search engines not to index them, and there is no public directory. |
| Extra limits for ages 13 to 17 | Friends-only profiles, no public clips, no links or contact details in bios. |
| Deleting can't undo safety actions | A new account made with the same sign-in keeps the old one's bans, moderation limits and the blocks against it. See Cloud Account and Data. |
Reports are private. The person you report isn't told who sent it.
Every shared clip page (flashbk.gg/c/...) has a Report link. It works even when you aren't signed in.
On someone's profile, open the ... menu and choose Report, or Block and report to do both at once. Friend requests have Report and Block right next to Accept and Decline.
Use Report a problem at flashbk.gg/account/report:
- Choose what you're reporting: a clip, a profile or a collection.
- Paste the clip's link, or the person's @username.
- Pick the reason that fits, such as harassment, impersonation, spam, privacy or child safety.
- Optionally add details.
- Choose Send report.
Signed out, you can still report clips and profiles.
Don't download or attach anything, especially anything that might be illegal. Send only the Flashback link and context; the link is enough for a review. You can also email the link, the reason and a safe way to contact you to support@flashbk.gg.
Copyright notices go through the Copyright page, not the report form.
Signed in on the web, Your reports lists the reports you sent in the last year and what happened to each one, such as "Action taken" or "No action needed".
Block from the ... menu on a profile, from a friend request, or with Block by @username in the app. A block, in either direction:
- ends the friendship and removes pending requests both ways,
- removes each person's reactions on the other's clips,
- hides each of you from the other while signed in: profiles, clips, feed, search, requests and reactions,
- is silent: the other person isn't told,
- never stops either of you from reporting the other.
Unblock any time from Show people you blocked in the app, or the Blocked list under Friends on the web.
What a block can't do: a link you shared as Anyone with the link, or a profile you set to Everyone, can still be opened by anyone who is signed out. Keep sensitive clips at Only me or Friends and leave your profile at the default Friends, and a blocked person who signs out sees nothing.
Flashback Cloud has daily limits per account on the actions that could be used to flood or game the service. They're set well above what normal use needs, so most people never meet them:
- changing who can see clips (each clip changed counts once; renaming never counts),
- making new links,
- downloading your data,
- changing your profile and your picture,
- sending reports (for urgent safety issues, email support@flashbk.gg),
- how many signed-in views of one clip are counted in a day (the page still opens; the count just stops rising).
Sign-in, forms and other requests from one connection are also rate limited. Past a limit you see a plain message such as "Try again tomorrow", and nothing you already have is changed. Deleting an account and starting over with the same sign-in is limited too; Flashback shows the date a new account becomes possible.
The limits are reviewed over time and can change.
The Acceptable Use Policy is the full rulebook. In short, don't use Flashback Cloud to:
- share anything illegal, or anything that exploits or sexualizes a minor, depicts non-consensual sexual activity, makes a credible threat, or encourages self-harm,
- upload material that infringes copyright or someone else's privacy, or share private conversations, personal data, intimate material or a person's voice without the consent you need,
- impersonate Flashback, its staff or anyone else in a username, display name, bio, picture, collection title or tag, or use hateful, sexual or harassing names,
- harass people with friend requests or reactions, including contacting someone from another account after they decline or block you,
- buy, sell or squat on usernames,
- scrape the service, guess links, inflate views or reactions, automate friend requests, file bad-faith reports, or get around plan limits,
- use Cloud as general file hosting, or hotlink its media as infrastructure for an unrelated high-traffic site.
Reasonable sharing in chats, posts, communities and personal pages is welcome.
Apparent child sexual abuse material is removed and reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children when the law requires it.
Flashback reviews reports and considers context, severity, repetition and legal obligations. Depending on what it finds, Flashback may:
- restrict a clip so only its owner can see it,
- hide a profile (a hidden profile can't send or accept friend requests or react until it's restored),
- reset a name, bio or picture, or retire a username,
- lock profile edits for a period,
- suspend or ban an account,
- preserve evidence, or contact providers or authorities when reasonably necessary.
A clip restricted to its owner stays visible to them, but its visibility can't be changed and it can't be deleted while the restriction lasts.
You're told in the app or on the website what was done, the reason, and how to appeal. To appeal, contact support@flashbk.gg or use the support form.
The Flashback Discord server is for talking with other players. For account, billing, safety or security questions, use the support form so a person can reply privately.
