MDIBL objective turret

Description

The objective turret is based on a PI MICOS L-611 stage (an older stage was integrated, new model is probably the L-611.90AD). This rotation stage carries a Thorlabs 60 mm cube with SM2 thread. Inside the cube, there is a non-rotating 45 degree 2" elliptical mirror (small axis). The objectives are installed with the following adapters:

  • 1x Objective: SM2A24 SM2 (external) -> M42x1 (internal) Adapter
  • 4x Objective: SM2A24 SM2 (external) -> M42x1 (internal) Adapter
  • 12x Objective: M32 x 0.75, needs corresponding Thorlabs Adapter (M2M32S) and 1 inch SM2 tube plus adjustable SM2 tube (SM2V05).

Fold mirror and cube

The fold mirror (Detection Mirror 1 - DM1) is carried by a VM05/1M Kinematic Mount with a 2-inch kinematic mirror attached via a 12.7 mm window (3 mm thickness) glued to the rear face of the mirror. Using a AM45C/M 45 degree mounting adapter, the VM05/1M is mounted onto a 50 mm post with extra spacers to get to the correct height (depending on the thickness of the mirror). The AM45C/M needs to be modified slightly to allow an M4 screw to be inserted from the top for the connection to the post. The plates connecting the rotation stage to the cage plate are custom and were manufactured by Protolabs.
