Preparing the imaging PC

Hardware installation

  • Install the framegrabber supplied with the Hamamatsu Orca camera (Active Silicon).
  • Install the MXI-Bus card for the NI-PCIe extension box / NI chassis containing the NI AO cards.
  • Install a PCIe to RS-232 card for the filter wheel connection. ⚠️ The MAC-6000 filterwheel controller needs a null-modem RS-232 cable. Use the cable supplied with the MAC-6000.

Software installation

  • Install the DCAM-API / Active Silicon drivers for the Hamamatsu camera. Test the camera using HCimage.
  • Plug the USB to RS-485 converter for the zoom servo into the PC. Usually, drivers should be installed automatically.
  • Install the NI-DAQmx drivers and NI-Max (Labview is not necessary). Test the analog outputs with the test panels in NI-Max.
  • Install the Optotune software to set the initial ETL voltage-to-current conversion table as described here. The download link is available after registration at optotune.com
  • Install the Physik Instrumente software as described on the wiki page covering the stage installation.
  • Follow the instructions for installing the mesoSPIM software on the mesoSPIM-control repository
