Enhanced

Enhanced is a Minecraft mod (NeoForge, Minecraft 1.21.1) where you can become one of the Enhanced: a hero from the Marvel films and shows, with the powers, the look and the colours you know from the screen. You can be Magneto, the Master of Magnetism; Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch; Quicksilver, who slows the world down around him (to his own song) or just outruns it; Vision, the Mind Stone in a synthetic body (or White Vision); Wanda's sons Tommy (Speed) and Billy (Wiccan); Loki, the God of Mischief; Jean Grey, the Phoenix, who reads minds and burns with cosmic fire; Peter Parker, Spider-Man, who goes everywhere on a web; or, if you are worthy, Thor, with Mjolnir and Stormbreaker; Agatha Harkness, whom the Darkhold makes; Cyclops, whose eyes only his ruby-quartz glasses hold back; Professor X, who hears every mind and takes over bodies; Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, whom the Eye of Agamotto makes; the Hulk, whom a beam of gamma rays makes; or, from the X-Men's secret lab under the Mutant School, Wolverine, with adamantium claws, and Deadpool, with two katanas, two pistols and a lot of jokes, who both get back up from anything but the strongest powers. In Asgard, the golden realm the Bifrost reaches, you can become Heimdall, who sees everything and keeps the Bifrost, the Allfather Odin, or Hela, the Goddess of Death, once you have beaten her. The six Infinity Stones wait in the worlds, for the gods to hold and to set into the Infinity Gauntlet, and the Stone Locator points the way to them. In the woods, Agatha, her son Nicky and Rio, the Green Witch live happily in their cottage; and when you die, Rio lets you choose where to start again. From the Avengers Tower, the Super Soldier Serum makes you Captain America, with his Vibranium Shield, Red Hulk, who burns hotter the angrier he gets, or Falcon, with his Exo-Wings and his drone Redwing; and an Arc Reactor makes you Iron Man, with six suits to put on, from the cave's Mark 1 to the nanotech Mark 85 and the giant Hulkbuster. Far out in the End, the Shrine of the Cosmic Entities leads to Eternity, who grants one wish: anything in the world, or to become Love, Thor's daughter. In Creative mode the Hero Creator makes any hero, or a hero of your own. And three villains are bosses whose powers are won only by defeating them: Thanos, the Mad Titan, who gathers the Infinity Stones as he fights; Ultron, the AI of the Mind Stone, who lifts the ground into the sky; and En Sabah Nur, the first mutant, Apocalypse, whose golden shield only mind power breaks.

What's new in 3.9.0

  • Under the hood, the mod now runs on its own platform layer. It is the first step towards a Fabric version of Enhanced. Nothing changes in play: every hero, power, boss and place works exactly as in 3.8.4, and your worlds, heroes and settings carry over.
  • A new settings screen. Open it from the Mods list (Mods, then Enhanced, then Config): your own game's settings and, in a world of your own, its server settings (on a server they are the server's to change), with switches, sliders and an Undo button. Your changes are saved when you leave a page.
  • 3.8.x and 3.9 cannot play together: update the server and every player at the same time (network protocol 14). See Installation.

What's new in 3.8.4

  • Sweet Dreams is no longer built into the mod. Quicksilver's Walkman plays his own theme, Silver Hours, as it has by default since 3.5. If you chose quicksilverSong = "sweet_dreams", put your own copy in config/enhanced/music/ as sweet_dreams.mp3 (or .ogg or .wav) and it plays as before; without it you hear Silver Hours, and the game tells you once where to put the file. See Music.
  • Keep the server and the players on the same version (network protocol 13, unchanged: 3.8.1 to 3.8.4 play together).

What's new in 3.8.3

Eilon asked: "Redesign the drones to look like that" (the Mark 85's wings in Endgame).

  • The Mark 85's Nanotech Drones are the Endgame wings now (Sneak + N): four big curved blades, like crescent moons, grow out of Iron Man's arms nanite by nanite and fan out beside him, two on each side: dark-red metal and gold around a bright cyan glowing panel full of circuit lines, with a little thruster pod on the back. The inner blade floats just past his hand, the outer one further out and a little lower; they bob and sway, turn with him and stay with him in flight. Their cyan lasers leave from the inner edge of a blade. In first person they stay at the edges of the screen; when their time is up they fold back into his arms. Same damage, time, energy and cooldown as before.
  • Keep the server and the players on the same version (network protocol 13, unchanged: 3.8.1, 3.8.2 and 3.8.3 play together).

What's new in 3.8.2

Eilon's last two fixes: "Wanda's shield doesn't protect against Iron Man's laser beam: fix it so it doesn't go through the shield", and "Death, in her suit, has flowers on her, and in the series she had no flowers".

  • Wanda's Chaos Shield stops every beam of Iron Man, as it stops Thor's lightning beam: the repulsors of every suit (and the Double-Hand Blast and the Mark 50's nano cannon), the Unibeam, the Mark 85's giant chest laser, the Hulkbuster's heavy Unibeam, the lasers of the Laser Burst and of the drones, and the Lightning Refocuser's chain lightning. The beam ends on the shield's surface with a flash, Wanda isn't touched, nothing behind or inside the shield is hit, and the hit costs the shield what it would have done (with the old shield rules). Fired from inside the shield, his beams still never touch her. Redwing's laser and Love's eye laser stop there too.
  • Death wears no flowers. Her crown of branches had pale tips that looked like little white blossoms: now it is dark dead twigs with a few dead leaves, and her gown has no pale specks. The clearing still has its little flowers and falling petals, but never on her: the grass at her feet has none, and the petals fade away before they reach her. At home in the cottage Rio is still the gardener she was.
  • Keep the server and the players on the same version (network protocol 13, unchanged: 3.8.1 and 3.8.2 play together).

What's new in 3.8.1

Eilon asked: "draw Tony a skin".

  • Tony Stark has a real skin, in three looks: Tony (dark swept-back hair, his moustache and pointed beard, a dark T-shirt with the Arc Reactor shining through it, dark jeans), Tony in sunglasses (tinted glasses and a dark blazer) and Workshop Tony (a grey tank top with oil smudges). The reactor glows in the dark, and the suits still close over him when he suits up.
  • Sounds: the Arc Reactor hums softly while you press it to your chest, when Iron Man holds his up, and when a suit powers up; the repulsors whine under the Mark 3's Double-Hand Blast.
  • Captain America: his Combat Combo and Flip Kick have a damage of their own now, so a custom hero's card strength makes them stronger, as with every other hero's moves.
  • Falcon: in first person, the spread wings show as long diagonals at the sides of your view, not just short stubs in the corners.
  • The server's announcements tell the story ("…put an Arc Reactor in their chest…", "…took the Super Soldier Serum…", "…made a wish to Eternity…") only when that really happened: a hero given by a command or by Choose a Hero is announced plainly ("Eilon has become Iron Man!").
  • Avengers Tower no longer writes six warnings to the server log when it is built.
  • Update the server and every player together (network protocol 13: a 3.8.0 player cannot join a 3.8.1 server, or the other way round).

What's new in 3.8

Eilon asked for the Super Soldier Serum, Captain America, Red Hulk, Iron Man and every one of his suits, Falcon, and, from Thor: Love and Thunder, Eternity and Love.

  • The Super Soldier Serum: found in the Avengers Tower's lab. Use it and choose your super-soldier on a screen of three cards: Captain America, Red Hulk or Falcon (locked until you carry his wings). Your old hero is replaced.
  • Captain America: Speed II, Strength II and Resistance I in his body, and the Vibranium Shield: it blocks everything from the front, bounces arrows back, and when he throws it, it flies back to his hand (or ricochets from foe to foe first). He rallies his friends, and he is worthy of Mjolnir.
  • Red Hulk: 1.5 times as big, fire can't hurt him, and his Anger fills as he fights until it bursts in a ring of fire. A Ground Smash, a Heat Wave, a Super Jump you charge, an Energy Absorb, and N turns him into Ross.
  • Iron Man: an Arc Reactor in your chest makes you Iron Man, and the tower's workshop has six suits on their displays: Mark 1 (a flamethrower and one rocket boost), Mark 3 (repulsors, the Unibeam, flares, missiles), Mark 5 (a suitcase that unfolds onto you), the nanotech Mark 50 and Mark 85 (energy blades, a giant hexagonal shield, the Lightning Refocuser, homing mini-missiles, nanotech drones) from the Nano Arc Reactor, and the Hulkbuster that Veronica drops from the sky. H suits up and takes off, and every suit has its own suit-up animation, in first and third person. Suit energy, flight and a helmet HUD.
  • Falcon: the Exo-Wings at the very top of the tower: flight, an elytra glide, the Dive, the Boost Climb, the Wing Shield, wrist blasters, and Redwing, the drone that marks monsters and zaps them.
  • The Avengers Tower's armoury: the suit displays, the reactors on Tony's desk, the serum in the lab, Cap's shield in his closet and Falcon's wings on the observation deck: one of each for each player. Old towers are refitted by themselves when you come near (/enhanced structure refit_tower).
  • Eternity: the Shrine of the Cosmic Entities in the End, with the statues of Eternity, Infinity, Death, the Living Tribunal, Galactus, Arishem, Oblivion, Master Order and Lord Chaos. A key of the Bifrost on its altar takes you to Eternity's realm, a white world over a mirror of still water, where you may make one wish: any item (Infinity Stones and Gungnir by their own rules), or to become Love, Thor's daughter, with Stormbreaker, lightning and a purple eye laser.
  • The Hero Creator: the five heroes' abilities and Sneak variants (221 cards), their ready-made heroes, runs, and the flight styles Iron Man and Falcon.
  • 109 new sounds, all synthesised for the mod, and a new Avengers advancement tab.
  • Update the server and every player together (network protocol 12). Old worlds keep working: old Avengers Towers get their armoury when you come near, and the shrines appear in End islands not explored yet.

What's new in 3.7.2

Eilon's requests:

  • Asgard's dining hall is fixed. In the Hall of Feasts the tables were chest high on fence posts with their arms sticking out, the cakes, candles and pots floated over them, the high table had no seats, the lanterns hung from the air and the kitchen's door looked at a blank wall; and nobody sat down to eat. Now the tables are the right height with the dishes on them, each long table has a cross aisle through the middle from the door to the high table, the high table has six benches facing the hall, the lanterns hang from the ceiling and two doors lead to the kitchen. Volstagg sits at his place at the high table to eat, and at dusk the Warriors Three and Sif come to the feast and dine with him until the night, facing the hall; nobody walks on the tables. A hall built before 3.7.2 is mended by itself the first time you come near it (a block you changed there is left as you made it); /enhanced asgard mendhall does it again.
  • Death's line: Rio now says "All roads lead to me." (Meeting Death).
  • Rio wears her Death look on Death's screen: the dark green-black gown, the long hood and the crown of branches of Agatha All Along. At home in the cottage she stays the gardener.
  • Works with 3.7 servers and players (network protocol 11, unchanged).

What's new in 3.7.1

Eilon's request, with pictures from the show:

  • Wanda's Hex Runes look like the WandaVision finale: huge glowing scarlet runes, drawn stroke by stroke, several on each of the Hex's four walls, readable from inside and from outside. They grow with the Hex: make it bigger or smaller and the runes follow the wall.
  • Avengers Tower no longer writes 13 errors to the log about its item frames when it is built.
  • Works with 3.7 servers and players (network protocol 11, unchanged); the new runes show for players who have 3.7.1.

What's new in 3.7

Eilon asked for Wolverine, Deadpool, Cerebro in the Mutant School and a Stone Locator; his mom asked for a happy home for Agatha, Nicky and Rio; and Eilon added a meeting with Death.

  • Two new heroes with a healing factor: Wolverine (an Adamantium Injection: claws, a pounce onto his prey, a berserker rage, a nose for every creature near) and Deadpool (the Weapon X Pod: katanas, cartoon pistols, a teleport belt, a taunt, Dogpool, and jokes in a speech bubble). Their wounds close as you watch, and a deadly blow only knocks them down for 5 seconds: only the Infinity Stones, chaos magic, Odin's power, the Phoenix, or poison defeat them. Poison switches the healing off while it lasts.
  • The X-Men lower lab under every Mutant School, old ones too: two bookshelves in the Professor's study swing open onto a lift. Down there: the medical bay with the Cure Station (a Mutant Cure for a glass bottle), the Weapon X lab with the rack of injections and the pod, and Cerebro, a great sphere where a telepath at the console finds every player in every world for 30 seconds, as stars round the room, with the nearest stone sites. /enhanced structure school_lab builds or checks one.
  • The Stone Locator: 4 netherite blocks, 3 diamond blocks, a wither skeleton skull and an Infinity Stone in the middle (it comes back). Its needle points to the nearest place with a stone you haven't got.
  • Agatha's Cottage in the forests: Agatha, her son Nicky and Rio, the Green Witch, living happily together. They cook, garden, play and eat dinner together at dusk; they talk to you, trade, give gifts and blessings, and ask for help when Señor Scratchy the rabbit runs off. The cellar has a working Witches' Road door, and Agatha's study chest holds the Darkhold.
  • Meeting Death: when you die you meet Rio, who lets you start again, or start again in the Nether on a safe spot with a little Fire Resistance.
  • The Hero Creator: Wolverine's and Deadpool's abilities and Sneak variants (176 cards); their bodies give a custom hero the healing factor. Ready-made heroes Wolverine-like and Deadpool-like.
  • Update the server and every player together (network protocol 11). Old worlds keep working: every Mutant School gets its lab when a player comes near, and the cottages appear in land not explored yet.

What's new in 3.6.1

Eilon's requests, the next evening:

  • The Soul Stone can be earned again at Vormir: a push from the edge now counts (the edge was too narrow), a pet no longer teleports back to you on the way down, and a cat, a horse or a hero who lands alive on the pit's floor is taken all the same. Anyone can earn it: one who may not hold it bare finds it on a pedestal by the pool, held for him. When a push doesn't count, you are told why.
  • Gungnir is one per world: only one player ever takes it from Odin's vault (Creative players aside). See Odin.
  • Tommy runs like his uncle: on water too, and he swims faster at super speed. See Tommy.
  • A new Avengers Tower, after the films' tower: a dark glass shard 114 blocks high, a curving landing deck, the glowing ring with the "A", and a room for each of the six: Hawkeye's archery range, Black Widow's training room, the Hulk's (smashed) room, Thor's gold room, Iron Man's workshop... and Captain America's, a tiny closet. See Structures.
  • The network protocol stays 10.

What's new in 3.6

Eilon asked for the Infinity Stones, Doctor Strange, the Hulk and Hydra's soldiers.

  • The Infinity Stones: six real stones, each with two powers. The Reality Stone in Asgard's vault, the Mind Stone in Loki's Scepter, the Space Stone in the Tesseract, the Time Stone in the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Power Stone in the Orb at the end of an End tunnel, and the Soul Stone at the Vormir Cliff, for a sacrifice. Only the gods, the Scarlet Witch and the Phoenix can hold them; the Scepter, the Tesseract and the Eye of Agamotto let others use theirs. Craft the Infinity Gauntlet, set the stones in it, turn the Stone Wheel with J, and with all six, Snap.
  • Vormir: on a cliff in the Nether, the Stonekeeper asks a soul for a soul. Push a friend (with PvP on) or your pet off the edge, and wake with the Soul Stone; the friend loses his things and his power.
  • Four new places (Structures): the Sanctum Sanctorum, Avengers Tower, the End tunnels and the Vormir Cliffs. /locate finds them.
  • Two new heroes: Doctor Strange (open the Eye of Agamotto) and the Hulk (stand in a Gamma Emitter's beam). Doctor Strange has a sixth key, Y, for the Eye; with the Eye, Billy and Agatha get the Time Stone's powers too.
  • Hydra soldiers guard every Hydra outpost: riflemen, enforcers, a sniper and an officer who raises the alarm. Their officer may drop a map to Avengers Tower.
  • The Hero Creator: Doctor Strange's and the Hulk's abilities, and a stone row for each Infinity Stone, which works while your hero carries that stone.
  • Fixes: beams are drawn in the third-person back view too (they were hidden behind your own head), and the arm that fires a stone's beam is raised.
  • Update the server and every player together (network protocol 10). Old worlds keep working: the new places appear in land not explored yet, the Reality Stone's pedestal appears in an Asgard built by 3.5 when its vault opens, and every Infinity Gauntlet already in a world stays Thanos's Gauntlet.

What's new in 3.5.1

Eilon's requests:

  • Hela's headdress is redrawn as her horned crown from the film: long black horns with a dark green sheen fanning out round her head and sweeping back (the hero, the boss, her shadows and the item).
  • One of each character: while a player is Odin, the Odin of the city leaves in a shimmer of gold and comes back when nobody is Odin; the Asgardians say "The Allfather has woken" and name the player. See Asgardians.
  • Heimdall stays, and hands a player who is Heimdall his post for 10 minutes: "We are both guardians of Asgard." The socket and the Bifrost answer to the keeper. See Heimdall.
  • The network protocol stays 9; update the server and every player together.

What's new in 3.5

Eilon asked for Asgard.

  • Asgard, the Realm Eternal: a world of its own, a golden city floating over a sea of stars: Odin's palace and its throne room, the Rainbow Bridge, Heimdall's Observatory, Frigga's gardens, the training grounds, the Hall of Feasts, houses, stables and docks, waterfalls that pour off the edge into space, its own sky and its own music. Safe to explore: no monsters, a protected city, Heimdall catches you if you fall, and you keep your things if you die there.
  • Only the Bifrost goes there. Choose Asgard at the top of the Bifrost screen. The Bifrost answers Mjolnir, Stormbreaker, Hofund (anyone's), your own Gungnir, and Heimdall and Odin. With no power, right-click a Bifrost Rune Stone in the Overworld.
  • The Bifrost takes everyone in its circle, Thor's too: friends, pets, horses. Step out to stay behind.
  • Three new heroes: Heimdall (win his Guardian's Watch), Hela (a boss: beat her in the throne room and wear her Headdress) and Odin (take Gungnir from his vault and sit on his throne).
  • The Asgardians: Heimdall, Odin, Frigga, Sif, Valkyrie, the Warriors Three, the Einherjar and the citizens live in the city, talk to you in English or Hebrew, give hints, trade, train with you, and fight Hela's army beside you.
  • Music: Quicksilver's Walkman plays his own new theme, Silver Hours (Sweet Dreams is one option away), and Speed has a Walkman with his own, Westview Blur; the Witches' Road has a new version of its ballad for the choice; and a server can put its own songs in the world's music folder, which every player downloads by himself.
  • The Hero Creator: every ability can have its own colour, picked with a colour picker; every Sneak variant of the heroes is a card of its own (Billy's Hex Barrier, Thor's Shatter Mjolnir, Spider-Man's Spider-Sense...), and so is the Scarlet Witch's Build Magic; Heimdall's, Odin's and Hela's abilities are there too; the editor asks before it throws away unsaved changes.
  • Fixes: an old Mutant School's door can be mended (/enhanced structure repair_school); Loki is tougher (30 health, 6 armour); Agatha's Power Drain takes only a witch's or sorcerer's power; Spider-Man's Brand New Day suit is redrawn to match the film; becoming another hero puts the old hero's helmet, goggles, glasses or crown in your bag.
  • Update the server and every player together (network protocol 9). Worlds from 3.4 open in 3.5 with Asgard in them (its city is built as you explore it), and the rune stones appear in land not explored yet.

What's new in 3.4

Eilon asked for a Hero Creator that makes heroes as good as the mod's own.

  • Every hero's abilities, for your own hero. All 81 abilities of the sixteen heroes are powers you can pick in the Hero Creator, each with its Sneak variant, its effects, sounds and animations, exactly as the hero has them: Thor's Lightning Beam, Quicksilver's Super Speed, Agatha's Witch's Shield and Ultron's Sentry Army on one hero, if you like. A strength slider makes each one weaker or stronger. The list is on Heroes' Abilities.
  • Ten keys. Put your powers on R G V B N, alone or with Sneak, like the real heroes; a hero's ability brings its Sneak variant with it.
  • A bigger budget: 90 points and up to 10 powers (was 60 and 8). Two powers of different heroes that drive the same thing (one shield, one grip, one beam...) cannot go together, and the editor says why.
  • Moves as good as the heroes'. Every power plays a gesture (the hero's own, or one you choose), held and switched-on powers have a stance, and you choose how your hero flies, runs, runs at super speed and stands. Everyone sees it, in first person too.
  • Looks: a cape, a hat, a mask, glowing eyes and an aura on top of the skin.
  • A new editor with a 3D preview that moves, 22 ready-made heroes to start from ("Thor-like", "Speedster"...), categories and a search box in English and Hebrew.
  • Choose a Hero gives the hero's items: Thor gets a Mjolnir that is already his, Agatha the Darkhold, Cyclops his glasses; never a second one.
  • Hero files of 3.3 still load: they turn into the new format by themselves.
  • Update the server and every player together. A 3.4 server and a 3.3 player (or the other way round) cannot play together (network protocol 8). Worlds from 3.3 open in 3.4 as they were; a custom hero saved with a player comes back as he was. A 3.3 server file keeps its Hero Creator budget of 60 and 8 powers until you change them.

What's new in 3.3

Eilon asked for these.

  • Three new heroes. Agatha Harkness: a player with no power who reads the Darkhold becomes her, with the book's purple beam, flight, 40 health, the Power Drain that takes another hero's power away for 10 seconds, a purple Witch's Shield and a Rune Trap; two looks, WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Cyclops: put on his ruby-quartz glasses and fire the Optic Blast from your eyes, a Ricochet Shot, a Concussion Blast, an Optic Leap and the Rally; take the glasses off and a giant red beam pours out until you put them back on. Professor X: craft his wheelchair, choose the young or the old Charles, hear the thoughts of everyone around you, take over a body (a creature, or a player with PvP on, unless they are a telepath; Wanda, the Phoenix and Billy throw him out), freeze minds, and find everyone with Cerebro.
  • The Hero Creator. A Creative-mode item: become any hero at once, or make your own from a catalogue of thirty powers, each with a strength from 1 to 10 within a budget, on the keys you choose, in your colours and your own skin (everyone sees it). Save it to a JSON file and load it on any server. See Hero Creator.
  • New places in the world. Hydra outposts, where Loki's Scepter is now kept (and nowhere else); Mjolnir's craters, with an unclaimed Mjolnir in the middle; and the Mutant School, with Professor X's wheelchair and Cyclops's glasses. /locate structure finds them, and they appear in the new chunks of old worlds. See Structures.
  • Walls that really keep things out. Billy's Hex Barrier stops everything from the front, has 60 health and no time limit, mends while it is down, and only chaos and dark magic wear it down (3.3.1). Wanda's Hex lets in only those she approves, however they try, and no power crosses its wall from outside; her new Hex Runes take the powers of every other sorcerer inside. The ward of the Book of the Vishanti keeps out every monster and boss, what they shoot, and dark magic, and nothing else. See Billy, Scarlet Witch and The Sorcerers' Books.
  • The Witches' Road sings. An original witchy ballad in a different arrangement at each stage: the entrance, the Parkour, the Copy, the boat race and the end. A resource pack can replace it. See The Witches' Road.
  • The speedsters run up walls. Quicksilver and Tommy each have two separate keys: R slows time (Tommy's Slow Time is new, in teal) and G is Super Speed; use one or both. Sprinting into a wall at super speed, they run up it, along the ceiling, round an overhang and down the far wall, with no fall damage after. New attacks: the Dash Strike (both, Sneak + G), Quicksilver's Pebble Barrage (N) and Tommy's Sonic Boom (Sneak + V). See Quicksilver and Tommy.
  • Easy web swinging. Spider-Man's Web Assist (on by default; J switches it) picks the anchor for you in trees, houses and cliffs, never runs you into the ground or the leaves, lets go at the right moment and sends the next web while you hold G, with a small white web showing where it will go; in open land it swings from the sky. See Spider-Man.
  • Smoother animations. Beams, crackles, shields, the Hex and the HUD no longer flash, pop or jump: they flow and fade.
  • Update the server and every player together. A 3.3 server and a 3.2 player (or the other way round) cannot play together. Worlds from 3.2 open in 3.3 as they were. (Billy's barrierCooldown was renamed barrierLowerCooldown, so a 3.2 server file gets the new default of 10.)

What's new in 3.2

Eilon asked for these.

  • The Witches' Road has trials. Open a Witches' Road Door with a Scarlet Witch Gene and, instead of choosing at once, walk the Road: a dimension of its own with three trials, each built for you alone. A Parkour over the void, a structure to copy block by block, and a long ice-boat race. Each success opens the next; at the end you choose to become Billy or Tommy. Falling never hurts, you can leave at any time, and your Gene is used up only at the end. See The Witches' Road.
  • Billy fires a beam, and has ten ranks. Hold R for a continuous Hex Beam that you aim, stronger and longer-reaching as he ranks up; Sneak + B raises the Hex Barrier, a plate of blue magic that stops what comes at him from the front. His Build Magic ranks go from 4 up to 10 (Apprentice to Chaos Master), with a meter that grows to 32,768. See Billy and Build Magic.
  • Wanda has an unlimited shield and an Instant level. The Chaos Shield costs nothing and never breaks or runs out (a server can bring the old limits back). Press Ctrl + I in build mode and her spells, undos and redos appear all at once, with no waiting. See Scarlet Witch and Build Magic.
  • Two books of magic. The Book of the Vishanti lets a sorcerer (Loki, Wanda or Billy) save places and teleport to them, and raise a ward round the base that no monster can enter, as big as the sorcerer is strong. The Darkhold, Agatha's book, gives a purple beam, poisons whoever uses magic on you, and has a hex mark and a mind glimpse. Both are crafted. See The Sorcerers' Books and Items and Crafting.
  • Apocalypse is weaker. One master knob, apocalypse_boss.powerFactor (0.65), cuts his damage and the number of his lances, Horsemen and tornadoes by about a third and slows his attacks; his shields start at 100 instead of 150, and his windows last 12 seconds. See Apocalypse.
  • Update the server and every player together. A 3.2 server and a 3.1 player (or the other way round) cannot play together. Worlds from 3.1 open in 3.2 as they were.

What's new in 3.1

Four things Eilon asked for.

  • Build Magic for Wanda and Billy. Press Y and build with the mouse, as in Axiom and WorldEdit but with your own magic: click two corners and right-click to fill, empty, change or paint them, double-click a whole tree or house, and hold Y for the Spell Wheel of eleven spells (Fill, Vanish, Change, Paint, Pull & Push, Shapes, Copy, Move, Repeat, Land, Grow). You see everything before it happens, and Ctrl + Z takes it back, even tomorrow. Wanda's magic has no limit; Billy's grows as he practises, from Apprentice to Wiccan. See Build Magic.
  • Every telekinesis works in the boss fights, and Billy moves blocks. Billy tears blocks out of the ground and sets them down (V, Sneak + V). Wanda, Billy, the Phoenix and Magneto can take hold of Ultron, Thanos and Apocalypse, and the Wither, the Warden and the Elder Guardian too, as bosses: for a few seconds, then they break free. The blocks of a boss arena are only borrowed: the hole mends and the block crumbles. Billy and the Phoenix catch Thanos's sword, meteors and orbs and throw them back.
  • Magneto masters every metal. R lifts anything with metal in it: Vision, Ultron, armour or a sword in any hand, arrows in flight, metal blocks, rails and doors, and a Sentry he throws is crushed. Sneak + R when R isn't holding anything is the Magnetic Pull: the metal around you, the ore in the rock included, flies into your inventory. The metal people build with (lanterns, rails, hoppers) comes only from where you face, so your own base behind you is safe. See Magneto.
  • Apocalypse never heals, and Wanda and the Phoenix hit him critically. His health never comes back (his shield still knits). Every hit of Wanda's or the Phoenix's mind power is a critical hit: twice as strong on his shield and on him, with a burst and a crack you can hear. Everyone else still hurts him when his shield is down, but much less. See Apocalypse.
  • Update the server and every player together. A 3.1 server and a 3.0 player (or the other way round) cannot play together. Worlds from 3.0 open in 3.1 as they were.

What's new in 3.0

Five new heroes, all of them asked for by Eilon. The last three are villains, and bosses: their powers are won only by defeating them.

  • The Phoenix, Jean Grey. Find a Phoenix Ember, hold right-click for three seconds, and read minds (R: a violet panel shows the items of whoever you look at, a player's whole inventory included; Sneak + R finds every mind around you through the walls), fly, lift things with your mind, take over a creature (B) or freeze everyone around you (Sneak + B), and hold N to charge the Phoenix Burst: a wave of cosmic fire that spreads in every direction. Two looks, from X-Men: Apocalypse and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. See Phoenix.
  • Spider-Man, Peter Parker. Get bitten by a Radioactive Spider (craft it or find it in a chest) and go by web: R wraps what you look at (Sneak + R: a burst of 24 strands in every direction), G zips you to the block you look at and on to the next (Sneak + G, held: swing on the web), jump at a wall and keep pushing to climb it, and walk on the ceiling (V), and a spider-sense warns you of danger before it hits. In the Iron Spider suit B unfolds four mechanical legs (Sneak + B, twice: Instant Kill), and N turns his eyes black for a short, strong, costly surge. Three suits, from Homecoming, Infinity War and Brand New Day. See Spider-Man.
  • Thanos, the Mad Titan, a boss. Hold the Tesseract in one hand and Loki's Scepter in the other for five seconds, in open country in the Overworld, and he falls through a portal in the sky. The Infinity Stones come to him over time: he starts with the Power Stone and takes a new one every 90 seconds of fighting, up to five, never the sixth, and each brings new moves, so beat him fast and together (break his clench while he closes the Gauntlet). His powers are won only by defeating him: whoever did 3 percent of his health, and whoever struck the last blow, gets the Infinity Gauntlet; hold it for three seconds with no power and you are Thanos, with five stones on five keys. See Thanos.
  • Ultron, a boss. Craft the Ultron Program, hold it in one hand and Loki's Scepter in the other and Sneak + right-click open, level ground: scrap rises out of it, and Ultron wakes among his robots, the Sentries, with more coming in waves. When he is down to 55 percent the ground under everyone tears loose and rises 40 blocks into the sky, as Sokovia did, and the fight goes on up there. Destroy his body and he moves into a Sentry, in a weaker body: he is gone for good only when no Sentry is left. His powers are won only by defeating him: every fighter who stayed a minute and hurt him or his Sentries gets Ultron's Core, and the Core with the Scepter, with no power, makes you Ultron (plasma from the fingers, anti-gravity flight, gravity, uploads, Sentries of your own). See Ultron.
  • Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur), a boss. Plant the Capstone in the sand, by day under the open sky, with a Scarlet Witch or a Phoenix near, and he steps out of a violet portal. He fights with sand (lances, waves, spikes, boulders, tornadoes and a cocoon that swallows you), his portals and the Four Horsemen, inside a golden shield that only the mind power of a Scarlet Witch or a Phoenix breaks; when it shatters, everyone has ten seconds to hurt him. His powers are won only by defeating him: every fighter who stayed a minute and hurt him or his shield earns the Essence of En Sabah Nur; hold it for three seconds with no power and you become Apocalypse, with sand, levitation, a portal, a shield of your own and the power to make your friends stronger. See Apocalypse.
  • Update the server and every player together. A player with an older version cannot join a 3.0 server, and a 3.0 player cannot join an older one. Worlds from 2.x open in 3.0 with every hero as they left them.

What's new in 2.3

  • Bigger Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, as in the films, and Stormbreaker is a fifth stronger than Mjolnir in everything they share: blows, throws and the lightning beam. See Thor.
  • The Chaos Shield stops blows up close too. A blow that reaches a complete shield is stopped, wears the shield down and throws the attacker out. See Scarlet Witch.
  • The glowing eyes sit on the eyes of every look of Wanda and Thor.
  • Heroes' armour is hidden. It still protects, but heroes are drawn without it, so you see the character. A client option brings it back. See FAQ.
  • Thor's Love and Thunder look, redrawn to match the film: navy, gold and black armour, long ash-blond hair swept back from a bare forehead, a full beard, a red cape. And a new look, Love and Thunder, helmet, with the winged helmet from the New Asgard fight. See Looks.
  • Vision can't leave Wanda's Hex, unless he hurts her badly or defeats her. White Vision is held too, but never comes apart at the wall. See Scarlet Witch.
  • The Vision of the Hex. When Wanda raises her Hex, a Vision appears and fights at her side; look at a creature and press Z to send him at it.
  • The voices of the Infinity Stones. The Space Stone sounds when the Tesseract is used, the Mind Stone when the Scepter is, and both hum quietly while you hold them.

What's new in 2.2

  • Everyone moves like the character on screen. New poses for every hero, a flight of his own for every flier, every ability acted out (other players see it too), and trails, rings and wind behind flying heroes. See Animations and effects below.
  • Thor's lightning beam. Hold V and lightning pours from his hand, or from the head of Mjolnir or Stormbreaker: longer and twice as strong through Mjolnir or Stormbreaker, stronger yet as the God of Thunder. See Thor.
  • Shatter Mjolnir. Sneak + R and Mjolnir bursts into glowing pieces that strike his enemies, then fly back and make it whole in his hand again.
  • Pin someone with Mjolnir. Sneak + right-click a creature or player and Mjolnir pins them down until its owner lifts it.
  • A harder Chaos Shield. It takes 3/4 of a second to form, holds for 8 seconds, has 30 points of strength, shatters when those run out, and needs 6 to 15 seconds to recharge. See Scarlet Witch.
  • The Tesseract awakens Wanda too. Use it with a Scarlet Witch Gene in your other hand and you become the Scarlet Witch instead of Loki.
  • Loki's Scepter confuses. A hit makes a creature forget its target and wander about, and gives a player Nausea and Slowness. See Loki.

Animations and effects

Every hero moves like the character on screen: each flier has a flight of his own (Thor even whirls Mjolnir on its strap while he hovers, with the handle really in his fist), every ability is acted out, and your own hands move in first person. Other players see all of it too. Flying leaves trails, rings and wind behind you, and Thor and Vision can break the sound barrier. The client options Hero animations, Reduced motion and Flight effects tone it down or turn it off, and Hide heroes' armour (on by default) stops armour from hiding the characters: they are in config/enhanced-client.toml and behind the Config button of Enhanced in the Mods screen, see Server Configuration. The details are in docs/DESIGN.md.
