Thanos
The Mad Titan of Avengers: Infinity War: a giant in golden armour, a Double-Edged Sword in one hand and the Infinity Gauntlet on the other. In the mod he is the hardest boss, and the way to get the Infinity Gauntlet: whoever holds the Gauntlet for three seconds with no power becomes Thanos.
Hebrew: עברית
This page is about fighting him. The first thing to know: the fight is on a clock. He starts with one Infinity Stone, and every 90 seconds of fighting he takes another, up to five. Every stone gives him new moves, and he never gets the sixth, the Mind Stone: it is not in his hand.

Hold the Tesseract in one hand and Loki's Scepter in the other (either hand) and hold right-click for five seconds. A spiral of the Space Stone's blue and another of the Mind Stone's gold rise round you, a bell tolls every second and the action bar counts the stones. Let go, swap an item out of a hand, or die, and it is cancelled. Neither item is used up, ever.
When the five seconds are over, a portal opens in the sky, a column of blue light marks where he will land (14 to 20 blocks from you, where there is room), and six seconds later he falls through it. For his first three seconds he is invulnerable (he rises from the landing). The fight is round the spot where you called him: a circle of 40 blocks, and the fight counts everyone within 64.
The call is turned down, with a red message in the action bar and nothing else happening (the Scepter does not explode and the Tesseract does not take you anywhere), when:
| Why | What it says |
|---|---|
| The server turned the call off, or you are a Spectator | "The stones do not answer on this server" |
| The difficulty is Peaceful | "The Titan will not come in Peaceful" |
| Mjolnir lies on you | "Mjolnir holds you down: you can't go anywhere" |
| He is already here | "He is already here" |
| Another boss is fighting | who it is, and where |
| He fought less than ten minutes ago (five if every fighter fell or everyone left; none after the 25-minute limit or an operator's stop; fights against Ultron or Apocalypse do not count) | "The stones are quiet. Wait 7:42" |
| Not the Overworld | "The Titan answers only in the Overworld" |
| There are blocks over your head (he needs 24 blocks of open air above you) | "The Titan needs open sky above you" |
| You are not on solid ground (or you stand in water), there is not enough open ground round you (fewer than 60 percent of 24 spots round you), or the arena would cross the world border | "The Titan needs open ground around you" |
An operator can call him anywhere with /enhanced boss start thanos force (see Commands): it skips the site check, the Overworld rule, the server's switch and the rest, but not Peaceful or the one-fight-at-a-time rule.
- 3,000 health for one fighter, and half as much again for each extra one (up to four fighters counted: 7,500). Creative and Spectator players do not count. The bar is purple with one stone, blue with two, red, yellow, then green (the colour of his newest stone); at five it says "Only the Mind Stone remains", and when his damage starts to grow it says he is enraged.
- Four armour plates: his right pauldron breaks below 75 percent of his health, the left below 55, the breastplate below 35 and the helmet below 20. Each plate takes 10 percent off the damage he takes. Mjolnir breaks his helmet at once, 3 seconds of the Scarlet Witch's Chaos Beam tear a plate away, and a Telekinetic Slam tears one (at most once in 6 seconds). His Rewind puts them back.
- No hit takes more than 6 percent of his health, and no second more than 15 percent, so there is no way to kill him quickly. A creature that is not a player (a golem, a wolf) does a quarter, and then he swats it dead with the back of his hand, a tamed pet too: keep your pets away from him. (The Vision of Wanda's Hex is the one exception: he fights Thanos as a hero does, at full strength, and is not swatted.) Stormbreaker does two and a half times what it does to anything else.
- He cannot be pushed, burned or poisoned: no knockback, no fire, lava, drowning or falls, no Wither, Poison, Hunger, Nausea, Levitation, Mining Fatigue or Weakness, and no Slowness above level II. The Hex bounces him, Mjolnir cannot pin him, and nothing can shapeshift him or confuse him. Telekinesis holds him only as a boss (2 seconds, Billy 1, Magneto 3; then not again for 12 seconds; never while he arrives, leaves, dies or stands in his Space Barrier). Billy, the Phoenix and Magneto catch his sword (it tears free after 2 seconds, from Magneto after 3, and flies home); Billy and the Phoenix also catch his meteors and orbs, which do nothing in their grip, and throw them back. Magneto's strip or pull wrenches off one plate of his gold armour (at most once in 6 seconds, like a slam). He never goes more than 24 blocks below where he was called: if a fight drags him down a valley or a ravine he steps back once through a portal onto the ground near where he landed.

| Stone | When (of combat) | Colour | New moves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power | at the start | purple | Power Blast, Overload, Titan Shockwave, Power Pulse |
| Space | 1:30 | blue | Portal Step, Meteor Hail, Gravity Pull, Space Barrier |
| Reality | 3:00 | red | Reality Veil, Phantoms, Petrify Orb |
| Soul | 4:30 | orange | Soul Sight, Soul Drain, Soul World |
| Time | 6:00 | green | Rewind, Time Snare, the Infinity Beam |
- The clock only runs while a Survival or Adventure player is in the arena; nobody there, and it stands still (and he slowly heals).
- Ten seconds before a stone, its name appears and its voice hums. When it arrives he kneels for three seconds: a "sudden and painful surge", in which he does not attack and takes half as much again damage. That is your opening.
- After the fifth stone, if the fight drags on for another three minutes, his damage starts to grow, 4 percent each minute, up to 40 percent.
- Every stone after the first makes everything he does 6 percent stronger, and he rests a little less between moves.

Every move has a tell: a ring on the ground, a line from his hand, a glow. Watch for it. The numbers are damage at the default settings.
The sword and the fist (always, no stone):
| Move | What it does | How to beat it |
|---|---|---|
| Sword Sweep | A wide arc ahead, 30. It breaks a raised Shield for 5 seconds and throws a rider off. | Be behind him, or out of the gold ring |
| Overhead Smash | The ground ahead, 26, then a ring of 12 spreading out. | Jump the ring |
| Gauntlet Jab | Two quick blows, 14 each. | Back away |
| Sword Throw | The sword flies 28 blocks and comes back, 22 each way. While it is away he has no Sweep or Smash. | A Chaos Shield turns it home |
| Choke | Lifts one player in front of him, 16 over two seconds and 8 more where he is thrown. He picks a Loki or a Vision first. | 60 damage from another fighter frees you and staggers him |
| Leap | Crosses the arena and lands where you stood, 12. | Move |
Power Stone: Power Blast (a beam, 20, and 8 round where it ends; a block or a Chaos Shield stops it), Overload (purple sigils under up to three players, 16 each after a second: leave the circle), Titan Shockwave (a ring, 12, jumpable) and the Power Pulse (a fighter who hides where he can neither see nor reach is found after 8 seconds: 12 through the walls).
Space Stone: Portal Step (he appears behind you and strikes at once; a Hex wall refuses it), Meteor Hail (a ring under every player and a few more, 16 each, at most ten: leave your ring), Gravity Pull (draws in everyone he can see, then crushes, 10; cover breaks it) and the Space Barrier (a dome for 3 seconds that stops arrows, daggers and Thor's lightning, but not the Chaos Beam, Vision's beam or Stormbreaker).
Reality Stone: the Reality Veil (turns arrows and bolts within 12 blocks to bubbles for 6 seconds; Mjolnir and Stormbreaker are not stopped), Phantoms (three illusions of one health that jab for 3.5, while the real one is hidden for 4 seconds; any hit on him shows him) and the Petrify Orb (turns the first player it meets to stone for 3 seconds: they cannot move and take half damage; a Chaos Shield stops it).
Soul Stone: Soul Sight (dissolves Loki's duplicates, ends his invisibility and shapeshifting), Soul Drain (chains to up to two players, 3 every half second that armour cannot lessen, healing him 40 percent of it; a block, 28 blocks, or 60 poise of blows breaks it) and the Soul World (a pillar of orange light: whoever is in it at the end is taken for 4 seconds and nothing can hurt them, and he heals 3 percent for each).
Time Stone: the Rewind (undoes the last six seconds of damage: up to 8 percent of his health, the plates and his place; it fails if he is staggered), the Time Snare (mandalas under two players: whoever is inside is slowed to 40 percent for 4 seconds) and the Infinity Beam (only with all five stones: a huge beam that sweeps across the arena, 40; only a block or the edge stops it, a Chaos Shield breaks, and Stormbreaker cuts it).
- Clenching. Every stone move starts with him closing the Gauntlet. 100 poise of blows during the wind-up (a point of damage is about two poise, and Wanda's Chaos Beam, Vision's Mind Stone beam and Stormbreaker count three times; a Thanos player's stones count once) breaks the clench: he is staggered for two seconds, takes a quarter more damage, and his stones are dark for four seconds: only the sword and the fist. A Spider-Man's web (a Web Shot or a Web Burst) that reaches him does the same while he winds up a stone move. At any other time it locks his Gauntlet for 2 seconds: no stones, and he takes a quarter more damage. A web takes hold of the Gauntlet at most once every 20 seconds. The sword moves cannot be interrupted.
- Stormbreaker thrown into a beam cuts it and staggers him.
- A Vision is what he hunts first. Then whoever hurt him most in the last ten seconds. Then the nearest.
- A Chaos Shield stops his beams, meteors, orb and sword, and pays for each (the sword costs double). It is not enough against the Infinity Beam.
- Quicksilver Time slows him to half, and not at all once he has the Time Stone. Magneto's strip or pull wrenches off one plate of his gold armour (at most once in 6 seconds, like a slam); Magneto's telekinesis holds him 3 seconds and catches his sword. Build Magic and the Magnetic Pull change no block of his arena while he fights.
- Nobody is forced to stay: there are no walls round the arena, and the world is never changed (no block is ever broken or placed, unless the server turned blockDamage on).

- The bar shows his health in the colour of his newest stone, a gold tick where each armour plate will break, and under it six sockets: a lit gem for each stone he holds, a ring filling toward the next ("Space Stone in 0:42"), and a dark socket outlined in yellow that never fills.
- Every move shows itself first: a ring closing on the ground where it will land, a line from his hand that whitens as the aim locks, a portal, a falling star. The colour is the stone's: gold for the sword and the fist, purple for Power, blue for Space, red for Reality, orange for Soul, green for Time.
- The air turns dark violet within 64 blocks of him, with far thunder and a white flash when a stone arrives. These effects follow the client options bossAtmosphere and Reduced motion.
- The music is five layers in D minor, one for each stone he holds: a drone and a heartbeat, low strings, a high choir, a driving ostinato and bells. They play together, so the music grows as he does, and fade out when he is gone. It is music-volume sound (the music slider controls it) and the client option bossMusic switches it off. The sounds of the fight (his steps, his roar, the clench of the Gauntlet, the beams) are original, and every one has a subtitle in English and Hebrew.
-
He is beaten. He kneels, says his last words and turns to dust (five seconds, invulnerable). Everyone who did 3 percent of his health (and was there for the shared minimum, a minute) and whoever struck the last blow gets an Infinity Gauntlet, straight into the inventory; if it is full it drops for them alone; if they are dead or away it waits and arrives when they are back. Each of them also gets 1,500 experience points, and 12,000 more fall where he stood. Creative players are not rewarded (unless the server turns on
boss.creativeGetsReward). He cannot be called again for ten minutes. - Every fighter is dead for 15 seconds, or nobody is near him for 90 seconds ("Thanos has lost interest and left"): he steps through a ring of Space and is gone. Nobody is rewarded, and the rest is five minutes.
- The fight is never saved: if the server stops, he is gone.
The reward. Hold right-click for three seconds with no power to become Thanos. It is used up; a hero who tries is told that their body already holds a power, and nothing is used up. In Creative it is kept. Playing Thanos has its own section below.
Since 3.6 this reward is called Thanos's Gauntlet, and it is unchanged: its five stones are the Titan's own and can't be taken out. Every Gauntlet from an older world is one too. The crafted Infinity Gauntlet is another thing: six empty sockets for the real Infinity Stones, the Stone Wheel and the Snap.
Hold the Gauntlet for three seconds with no power: the five stones light on your left hand one after the other, each with its voice, a bolt of light (it hurts nobody) strikes where you stand, and you are Thanos. You keep the five stones the Mad Titan held, one on each key, and never the Mind Stone: it is in Loki's Scepter and in Vision's forehead, and the sixth socket of your Gauntlet stays dark for good. (Since 3.6 you may also wield a crafted Infinity Gauntlet with real stones in it: with the Mind Stone in it you get its beam and its Command, and with all six you can Snap, at no cost to you. You can't hold a bare stone: you are not a god.) You do not fly. The Space Stone is how you move. You are a tank with a toolbox.
(Sneak is the Shift key, unless you changed it. Everyone nearby sees what you do.)
- R: shoot the Power Stone. A violet beam leaves the Gauntlet and hits the first creature you look at, hard; the energy bursts where it ends and hurts the hostile creatures round it. Sneak + R: slam the ground, and a ring runs out from your feet and throws everything standing on the ground (jump to clear it).
- G: step through a portal to the block you look at, or right behind the creature. Sneak + G: pull the creature you look at through a portal to just in front of you.
- V: turn a creature to stone for three seconds. Sneak + V: the Reality Veil, a toggle that turns arrows and other projectiles that come at you into harmless bubbles.
- Hold B: drain a soul. A chain of orange light takes the life of what you look at, 3 damage every half second, and heals you with half of it. Sneak + B: the Soul Sight, the creatures near you glow through walls, and Loki's tricks come apart.
- N: rewind. You go back to where you were five seconds ago, with the health you had then. Sneak + N: the Time Lock, a dome in which everything but you is slow and arrows hang in the air.
| Key | Stone | Press | Sneak + press | Cooldown | Hunger |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R | Power | Power Blast: 12 damage to the first creature in the beam (28 blocks), 6 to the hostile ones within 2.5 blocks of where it ends; no block is ever broken | Titan Slam: a ring to 7 blocks, 10 damage, thrown away; only what stands on the ground | 70 / 160 | half a food point / one |
| G | Space | Portal Step: 40 blocks, onto the block you look at or right behind the creature | Space Pull: 24 blocks, the creature is drawn in over a third of a second and arrives two blocks ahead, dazed | 100 / 220 | a quarter / half |
| V | Reality | Transmute: a red sphere (20 blocks) turns a creature to stone for 3 seconds: it cannot move, jump, attack or use anything, and takes half damage | Reality Veil (toggle): projectiles heading for you within 8 blocks become bubbles that pop | 240 / none | half / a point in twenty seconds |
| B | Soul | Soul Drain (hold): 16 blocks; 3 damage every half second that armour and enchantments cannot lessen, half of it heals you | Soul Sight: 32 blocks, 8 seconds | 40 after you let go / 400 | a point in ten seconds / a quarter |
| N | Time | Rewind: back to where you were 5 seconds ago, with that health if it was higher (up to 20 more) | Time Lock: a dome of 6 blocks for 5 seconds at your feet | 900 / 600 | two / three quarters |
The two things on one key share one cooldown: after the Blast the Slam waits for the Blast's 70 ticks. An ability that cannot do anything (no target, no room, a wall in the way) tells you why and costs nothing; the Blast and the Slam always fire, even at empty air. With an empty hunger bar the stones do not answer ("Too hungry for the stones"); in Creative nothing costs hunger.
- Power Blast. The beam leaves your left hand and goes where you look, to the first creature or block. A creature that is a player is hit only with PvP on; a Creative or Spectator player is never hit (the beam passes). A Chaos Shield in the way stops it at its surface and loses 12 strength; a boss's Space Barrier turns it away (it is a beam, not Stone-born). The splash spares villagers, animals, golems and pets. Titan Slam: the ring moves under a block a tick; whoever is more than half a block off the ground when it passes takes nothing, and neither do you.
- Portal Step. A blue ring opens at your feet and another where you arrive, and you keep looking where you looked. It is a teleport like Loki's Vanish: a Hex wall refuses it and turns you back like any hero, Mjolnir's pin refuses it, the arena of a boss keeps you in, and you need room for your whole body (not in water) or you hear "No room there". Look at a block closer than the range or you hear "Look at a block within 40 blocks". Space Pull: not a boss, not a creature Mjolnir lies on, not an armour stand; a player only with PvP on; the Hex judges the landing; a creature held by someone's telekinesis is let go first.
- Transmute. The sphere flies for a third of a second; a Chaos Shield in its path stops it and loses 2. A boss (and anything the Freeze cannot hold) shakes it off: "The stone cracks and falls". A petrified Scarlet Witch cannot hold her beam or her shield; a Loki's duplicate dissolves. Reality Veil: it costs hunger every tick and goes out when you starve; it is saved with you. Mjolnir, Stormbreaker and the Mad Titan's own sword, meteors and orbs are not turned (nor are beams, which are not projectiles).
- Soul Drain. You lock onto the creature you look at (16 blocks, in line of sight); it loses 3 and slows a little every half second for as long as you hold B. The chain parts, and the cooldown starts, when you let go, when a block comes between, when the target is more than 20 blocks away, dies or becomes untouchable, when you starve, when you are held, or when you take 60 damage in one second. A Chaos Shield stops the chain and loses 12. Bosses can be drained, except Apocalypse while his golden shield is up: it turns the Drain away like everything that is not Wanda's or the Phoenix's mind power. The Mad Titan takes it with his plates and caps applied, and it is no projectile, so his Space Barrier does not stop it. Soul Sight: while it lasts every creature near you glows orange for you through the walls; at the first moment Loki's duplicates dissolve, an invisible Loki is seen and a shapeshifted Loki is himself (the server can turn that off), and every invisible creature glows for everyone for 5 seconds. No cooldown in Creative.
- Rewind. The game keeps a snapshot of you every quarter of a second for five seconds. With less than two seconds of history you hear "Nothing to rewind" and it costs nothing. Otherwise you go back to the oldest snapshot (to the nearest free spot within three blocks if it is blocked now), your health rises to what it was if that was more (by at most 20), the harmful effects that began in the window are gone (poison, wither, slowness, weakness, nausea, blindness, darkness, hunger, mining fatigue, levitation, the stones' own), the fire goes out, your air and your fall are reset. Your food and your things stay, and so does everyone else. A Hex wall or the arena of a boss refuses the place, but your health still returns; Mjolnir's pin refuses all of it. It does not undo a death. The history is dropped when you die, leave, change dimension or lose the power.
- Time Lock. Everything in the dome but you and your own pets is locked: 60 percent slower, hitting and digging at half speed. Players only with PvP on, never Creative. A boss shrugs it off. Projectiles in the dome lose 65 percent of their speed every tick and have no gravity until they leave it or the dome closes.
| Health | +20 (20 hearts) |
| Armour, toughness | +6, +2 |
| Knockback | half |
| Strength | +3 with the fist or any weapon |
| Size | 10 percent taller (it still fits a two-block door) |
| Reach | +1 block to creatures; a long stride (+0.4: he walks up whole blocks); half the damage from falls |
| Titan healing factor | half a point a second when you have not been hurt for 5 seconds and are not starving; it costs a little hunger |
| Flight | none |
Nothing else is passive: lightning, fire, magic and the Hex treat you as a hero.
Every use of a stone has a motion of its own, on the hand the Gauntlet is on, and everyone near sees it. R: the fist is thrust at where you look and holds, trembling, as the Blast leaves it; the Slam goes overhead and is driven into the ground, and you sink a little with it. G: the hand draws a circle in the air for the Portal Step, and the palm is held out and dragged back for the Pull. V: a flick of the fingers for the Transmute; the Veil closes both arms round you and then holds the Gauntlet hand out as if it held a thin film. B: the Drain lashes a chain out and holds the arm along your look while it lasts; the Sight brings the Gauntlet to your eye and sweeps it across. N: the Rewind holds a palm up, trembling, and draws it back; the Time Lock presses both palms down in a stamp. A small flourish at the hand goes with each (the Flight effects option thins it).
He walks heavily, and the ground shakes with the stride; he does not fly, so he never takes off or banks. A fall of more than three blocks ends in a thud, with a dip deeper than anyone's and a cloud of dust. In first person the Gauntlet is always at the lower left of your screen, breathing a little, and it thrusts, slams, draws circles and presses with each stone. The key press starts the motion at once where the stone will work, so there is no lag. Hero animations and Reduced motion (client options) switch it off or calm it.
Infinity War (default: the navy tunic, the gold gorget), Endgame: Battle Armor (the gold helmet and the plum breastplate) and Your own skin; H cycles them, Sneak + H goes back. The Gauntlet is drawn on your left arm in every look. The energy of each stone has its own colour: purple, blue, red, orange and green.
- Wanda's Chaos Shield stops your Blast (12) and your Drain (12) and your Transmute (2), and takes away three quarters of the Slam's damage as an explosion. Her Hex bounces you at the wall like any hero, and judges your Step, your Pull and your Rewind as teleports.
- Mjolnir's pin refuses your Step and your Rewind; you can still use the Blast and the Drain, and you can pull nothing it holds.
- Billy's Freeze, the Phoenix's Mind Control or Psionic Field, a petrified body or the Soul World hold your hand: while any of them lasts no stone answers ("The stones will not answer while you are held"): the film's flaw, that a restrained Gauntlet hand cannot snap. Inside a cocoon of Apocalypse's sand no key does anything at all until it breaks.
- Loki's duplicates, hiding and shapeshift are what the Soul Sight is for; a duplicate of Loki that the Transmute's sphere reaches dissolves (Loki himself, turned to stone, keeps his duplicates).
- Vision phased through everything cannot be touched by any stone. Magneto has nothing of yours to take: the Gauntlet is not metal he wears. Quicksilver Time slows you like anyone, but your Rewind and Lock run on the game's own clock.
- With PvP off your Blast, Slam, Pull, Transmute, Drain and Lock do nothing to players ("PvP is off"); creatures are always valid.
- The Mad Titan treats you as the nearest player. Your damage counts in his ledger. He is immune to your Transmute, Pull and Lock (bosses cannot be held), but your Blast and your Drain hurt him.
- You never break a block, whatever the game rules say.
- The Mad Titan wants the stones (3.6): from his second stone on he goes first for a fighter who carries a real Infinity Stone: "You carry something that is mine."
